This particular someone was a guest, and what happened to him is the kind of thing that makes hardened men go quiet. The Inn's housemistress wants answers. Doug wants a beer. Phil wants to be a hero. Nobody gets what they want. The Coldwater Inn runs on pain, secrets, and a staff that asks too many questions and answers none. Somewhere between the dungeon, the dominatrix, and a servant named Stool, there's a killer — and it's probably something that shouldn't in our world.     This is DeGrave Brothers. The brothers have a job. There's been a murder at the Coldwater Inn and someone is paying them to figure out who — or what — did it. This requires interviewing witnesses. The witnesses are dominatrixes and sex workers. Doug has never been more professionally motivated in his life. Phil has a list of questions. Doug has other priorities. Between them they conduct what may be the most chaotic criminal investigation in Pacific Northwest history — a parade of interviews that goes sideways immediately and stays there, interrupted by a geriatric dominatrix who puts Doug on the floor in ways he did not enjoy even a little. Then someone turns up without their skin. This might be the most raunchy episode of audio drama you'll ever listen to. It's also somehow a murder mystery.     This is DeGrave Brothers. The brothers are stuck in a haunted whorehouse with a magic book nobody can read, a skinless corpse down the hall, and no plan. Doug has a solution. Mushrooms. Obviously. What follows is one of the more deranged nights in DeGrave Brothers history — a heroic dose of questionable fungi washed down with ceremonial moonshine, a cocaine amuse-bouche, and whatever that brick of Mexican weed was. Phil ends up in the bathtub. Doug ends up on a demonic sitcom being propositioned by Satan, who has opinions about Phil's love life and an offer Doug is going to refuse anyway. The bathtub goes interdimensional. And somewhere between the beetle hallucinations and the children's laughter and the screaming, a visitor from the brothers' past shows up with answers — and a lot more questions.     This is DeGrave Brothers. The only way out of the Coldwater Inn is down. What lies beneath is older than the inn, older than the town, and considerably more dangerous than anything the brothers have faced above ground. There are riddles with teeth. There are pirates — or what's left of them. There is a speakeasy, vintage lingerie, and a situation involving Doug and a yellow negligee that he will never fully live down. Phil discovers what he's capable of when the alternative is considerably worse. Doug discovers that robbing the dead has a way of catching up with you. They surface changed, cold, and considerably less dressed than when they went under. But the real trouble isn't below the inn. It's been upstairs the whole time, wearing a friendly face and waiting patiently. It's Halloween night. The clock is running.
