    Making Tomorrow Better

From chants on the terraces to the tracks boxers choose as they enter the ring – the relationship between music and sports has always been a special one. It’s rare you get a chance to work in both, but Johnathan Joseph  aka DJ Spoony is one of very few people who’ve succeeded in both industries. A pioneering DJ and beloved broadcaster, Spoony helped put UK Garage on the map, gave the genre a new lease of life decades later and has been part of the Premier League TV presenting team for nearly a decade. Such a valuable listen..

…to help us all reflect on racism and how ingrained this is/was in popular culture. How we all need to be mindful and aware in everything we do. How we’re all part of one side of the equation (perpetuating or challenging), all the time.

Another review said something like “came for the apology. Staying for Jason.” That speaks to me - impressive guy and handled this with dignity, respect, and authority.

Thank you for the content & hoping to hear more from this voice.

Also… I’ve seen there’s a 1 and 2 star rating or so. Come on… be amazed if those individuals have actually listened. Listen with an open mind and judge the quality of the conversation/pod. If your rating is going to be negative simply because it reflects your values, just don’t bother leaving it. Otherwise it’s pre-judging (ie prejudice and I suspect the hat fits)

If you listen and still rate lowly, why not leave a review in order to add your perspective here? Could be helpful & given this has been made by someone who suffered hurtful and damaging public abuse, it’s the least you can do. Show some respect, some courage. Add something more than anonymous and undefined criticism.

The Work is Working Right Here

I came here after watching David Baddiel's Channel 4 documentary, which mentions Jason Lee and this show. Listening to the full interview with David Baddiel gives a completely different perspective on the Fantasy Football history between them. I hope a lot more people will listen to this episode, appreciate Jason's strength, magnanimity and grace, along with David's genuine contrition and demonstration of how all of us can learn and change.

So much English-language podcasting on racism and discrimination comes from the US experience. I'm subscribing to Jason's show because this feels like a place where some of the hard yards - and a lot of 'the work' as he calls it - will be done right here in the UK.

Great Pod

I came for the Baddiel apology but will definitely be staying for Jason. Remarkable man.
