ATP has gone down hill unfortunately. I’m not a casual listener, I have listened religiously for years and bought merch.
I find myself wanting to skip huge chunks of the show. The most interesting tech topics are often in overtime (despite saying this would be extra content not a paywall of current content). I would also pay for a members feed where we cut off marco repeating his point two, three, four times. Hint: when you say ‘again, [repeat exact same point]’ a second time, you can cut there, we’ve got it. I won’t give Casey related feedback as it seems to evoke a rude response from replies I have seen - but I wish he took common feedback onboard.
More and more, John is the only redeeming part of the show.
Not sure why there’s been a noticeable decline in the past 1-1.5 years, can’t put my finger on it to give as useful feedback, sorry. Could be lack of jobby jobs, the move to mastodon creating a bit of a bubble, or more virtue signalling, more politics and less tech, not sure (and this is coming from a European who would be considered a damn far left communist in the US - it’s not a knee jerk reaction from a republican, say).
On the mastodon move: the reactions to points on the Reddit thread are often completely different to those on mastodon (and more balanced imo). There are usually magnitudes more commenters on Reddit thread than mastodon post too, so this isn’t a non representative sample of listeners that share these same feelings.
I love (loved?) the show. I just hope it can get back to what it’s missing from a couple of years ago.
