However, the media would have you believe this is a black issue and it’s related to gangs and drugs.   So what can we do? We can not arrest our way out of this … we need a whole system at every systems level… awareness raising, support for parents and carers, early intervention at the right time, opportunities for children, learning through bleed kit training.   This epidemic is not easy to treat … there are deep-rooted issues that we are not addressing and we are only putting sticky plasters on open wounds!
