    003. We Should Open Source AI As Fast As Possible

In this episode, I envision 3 possible awesome use cases for AI. I go on to state that I believe it is vital that AI be open sourced. I believe "biodiversity" is the only route that we are able to take that leads to a beneficial outcome of AI for our species. I outline the need for the open source community to create an ai developer, an entity that can create one-off apps for you powered by ai. This already exists in disparate form, bringing the ability to create ai-powered tools down-market as it were. No longer does someone need to know how to code or write Python well - the ai can help them create. I also outline how it's important that we don't rely on just one or two intelligence providers like OpenAI or Google. It think it's probably very important that we learn how to create homebrew LLMs, even though it most likely requires a breakthrough in organic computers. Research on this front is critical. If we don't do this, I think it's likely that we will have a situation where Sauron gets the ring of power. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I think that possibly the deepest alignment problem is that of a narrow group of incumbent power brokers being the ones that gain the immense power of ai first, and using it to bend civilization to their selfish will. I currently believe open sourcing ai as powerfully and rapidly as possible is the only way to prevent dystopia. I am open to criticism and new evidence, but ideologically this is where I have currently landed after months of reflection.
