Bad Gays

My all time favourite podcast. Ben and Huw’s cultural references are unparalleled. Really interesting stories - sometimes laugh out loud funny, sometimes shocking, sometimes deeply sad. Highly recommend.

I’ve been listening since the beginning and bought the book. Great idea for a podcast but over time it’s become self-indulgent and self-righteous. It’s also technically poor which maybe understandable at the beginning but if anything has got worse. Flat monotonous delivery, poor sound quality and very obviously reading badly from a script. However the real problem is the two presenters belief in their own righteousness. They spout opinions as if they are facts. As someone involved in gay politics for 50 years I can assure them views change and today’s orthodoxy as per their views will look very different and dubious in years to come. Just one example - their continual references to “evil twink energy”. Would they use the phrases “evil trans energy”, “evil bi energy” or “evil dom top energy”? I think not. Stick to the facts. Improve your presentation skills. Stop sounding like a pair of pompous, conceited, adolescent, self-righteous, gay white cis men! I know you are but you don’t need to make it so obvious

A really enjoyable podcast which covers iconic to unknown history with seriousness and fun. The hosts clearly put in so much work on the research and the questions they ask each other are very insightful.
