    Today’s episode is focused on the first edition of the Connect festival, which took place in Bordeaux, France between October 17th and 20th 2024. Connect is a new international festival dedicated to skateboarding culture and its relationship to urban planning, highlighting its cultural and artistic aspects. The event, co-organized by Leo Valls, City Skate Collective and Côte Ouest Agency brought together over 3600 participants from 16 different nationalities and featured exhibitions, conferences, video premieres, workshops, concerts, skateable sculptures and city sessions.     Episode 91 with Colin Read, skateboarder and filmmaker from Stuart, Florida. Together we discussed him growing up and starting skateboarding in Florida, breaking his pelvis at the age of 19 which led him to start filming his friends, moving to NYC at the age of 21 and living there ever since, making independent skate films throughout the 2010’s among which “Mandible Claw” (2010), “Tengu: God of Mischief” (2013) and the cult classic “Spirit Quest” (2016), dealing with gnarly back issues which forced him to take a long break from filming skateboarding, transitioning into music videos (for Radiohead, Weezer or Glass Animals to name a few) and commercial film work (for Apple, Converse, Burberry…) and much more through surprise questions from friends of his.
