There always something that makes you 00:00:12 This is a discussion room for Bibliothèque of Greens. We can share our thoughts here and grow together. Just make yourself comfortable and relaxed and enjoy the next 12 minutes with me. First of all, I will share a five minute white noise and what comes next is a seven minute talk about the topic of today. White Noise from St. James Park 00:05:52  Welcome back to the topic of this day. I hope you just enjoy the white noise and had a peaceful mind now, and let's start our discussion today. Have you ever noticed how obsessed we become with using time like it's a battery we have to drain completely before we are allowed to rest? We take shortcuts. Uber instead of buses, Uber Eats instead of cooking. Not because we are lazy, but because we've been told that every saved minute is meaningful. The less time you use, the more efficient you are, and the more successful and smarter you are. Also, you can see the prices of the tools or the services that save your time and use others' time are higher than the rest. Is that a story of robbing time from others so that you need to pay at a higher price? Is that right? What if time is NOT something we are supposed to spend or buy?... 00:12:46  And if you have any other ideas and questions for that, just give it to me. Um, so see you in the next episode. [Inspired by Chapter 6:Timesaving Bank in Part 2: The Men in Grey of Momo (Michael Ende), ps: I love his The Neverending Story] Outro: Mo-Eh-Wa (Fujii Kaze)

#EP1: Are you afraid of Black Swans?

Here is the discussion room for Bibliothèque of Greens, any friendly discussions are welcomed. I want to hear others' voice, and build a space and community for people to stay in peace, think and share, and grow together. Have you ever heard about Fight-Flight Response? There is another version: Fight-Flight-Freeze-or-Fawn, but today I just want to make it simple. That is an inherited thing from our evolution to protect ourselves, but today, it is holding us back from building a united world. Look at the wars and fights that we had, and it seems like that trend is coming back. 00:00:12 Hii this is the discussion room for Bibliothèque of Greens. We can share our thoughts here and grow together. Just make yourself comfortable and relax and enjoy the next ten minutes with me. First of all, I will share a seven minute white noise from a park and what comes next is a three minute talk about the topic of today. White Noise from Hyde Park: kids, pedestrians, birds, sunshine and lake. 00:07:41 Hi Let's back to the topic of this day. I hope you enjoyed the white noise just now and start our discussion today. I remember the last time that I went to the Hyde Park. I saw lots of white swans on the lake and on the grass. It just reminds me that what if a black swan comes up to them? Would those white swans feel anxious and insecure about that black swan? And what would they react to that? I hope they can live together peacefully because they are all swans. But would swans have fight or flight response like our human beings? Would they attack that black swan or just fly away? I cannot answer for that. However, as human beings, in most cases in our movies and literary works, we. Framed Black Swans as rebellious, devilish, wild and tempting, while white swans are pure, obedient and elegant. As you can see in the movie Black Swan, if we think more about the reasons why people have these stereotypes about white and black swans and how we name them, you will find is that a reflection of our fight or flight response? Let's think more about it. Black Swans originally only lived in Australia, but before people found Australia, everyone believed that swans were white. So the existence of black swans challenged our belief. We name something happened that break our cognition as black swan event. As a result, all of this happened because of the limits of our selves. We believe the world we see is how the world works. So if there is anything that beyond our control and knowledge, we tend to think those as threats and try to kill or escape from them. Sounds really familiar, right? That's what most of us do in our daily lives. But what I want to say is this word is not just about black and white fight or flight, but the survival instinct holds us back and continuously persuades us to behave like a primitive. Maybe we should find a way to live with ourselves and this world peacefully. Some enemies and threats are only exist in our imagination, and Black Swan event is just one of them. Yeah, so this is my first episode and wish you enjoy it. 00:10:35 So please feel free to discuss with me if you interested about fight or flight response. Or you can just ask me any other questions. Just feel free to do that!
