    Welcome to Season 2 of the BLK Podcast! On the first episode of the latest season we are hosting one of the “100 Most Influential People in Finance”. Professor Edward Altman is the Max L. Heine Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business at New York University. He is also the Director of Research in Credit and Debt Markets at the NYU Salomon Center for the Study of Financial Institutions. Prior to serving in his present position, Professor Altman chaired the Stern School's MBA Program for 12 years. In this very formative episode Prof Altman goes through the details of the functionality of the Z-score, and its application in bankura. He details his experience with congress during the 2008 automotive industry bailout. Prof Altman describes the particle use of the z-score to make investments as well.

Alex graduated from Oxford University and then worked for Morgan Stanley in investment banking (London) and fixed income sales and trading (New York). After a PhD in Finance from MIT Sloan, he joined Wharton in 2007 and was tenured in 2013 shortly before moving to LBS. Edmans' research is on corporate governance, executive pay, responsible business, and behavioral finance, and has been cited over 10,000 times. Professor Edmans on this episode provides a reflective insight on his own career and advise to others. He provides the inspiration and motivation for his best selling book "Grow the Pie: How Great Companies Deliver Both Purpose and Profit". Professor Edmans also provides personal expereinces from learning Spanish whilst preapring for a marathon, but also lessons learnt mistakes made along the way. Professor Edmans provides a very introspective episode reflecting on his own expereinces, but also allowing the listener to reflect on there own.
