After having read Ulysses a couple of times, read some guides and annotations, some academic papers, trawled through a hypertext version, and listened to the RTE performances (sometimes all at the same time), I thought I understood this book pretty well.
This podcast, so nicely balanced between hard study and reading for fun, proves that there is always something new to unearth in Ulysses.
Kelly is a fine host (and presenter) and works her socks off to bring new insights. Dermot is the laconic balance (he can never remember anything about the previous episode) who brings an additional layer of expertise in the areas of…Irish History, Philosophy, Catholicism and ritual, and Mythology. He also adds some fine artworks.
Already over 100 episodes available and only up to Chapter 7 (of 18). Please keep going as I am absolutely loving it.
If you are reading Ulysses for the first time, or a long time fan, you will find something here to add to your experience. I can’t recommend this podcast enough.
