A great way to sample RPGs
I encountered this wonderful podcast from some of their collaborators, the Magpies Podcast and the One Shot network, and boy am I glad that I did. TTRPGs can require a lot of investment to get into, so I’ve found listening to the CCcast is a great way to see what other systems might work for you. Making PCs is certainly more engaging than reading blurbs! I think this format really hits the nail on the head and I’ve found new games I want to play while listening.
The hosts are lovely, genuine and well-spoken people and the guests are an interesting bunch o’ nerds. Everyone always seems very smart, passionate and inviting to the hobby. I love this podcast and I’d recommend it to anyone whose interested in expanding the boundaries of our hobby and learning some new games! Thanks for making it!
Not just a great podcast but a great gateway
Not only its a great podacst to begin with, and probably one of my top podcasts i found last year, but its directly lead me to two of my absolute favorite podcasts beacuse of guests they had on, which has had knock on effects leading to me playing one of the best chracters i've ever played.
Excellent analysis of various RPG systems

As a primarily solo gamer, the most joy I experience with a role-playing game is creating different characters using the game's system and then fleshing them out into complex, interesting people. Amelia Antrim and Ryan Boelter employ this very technique, using character creation as a focal point to analyze a game's strengths and weaknesses.
Each three-episode season centers around a single game and includes special guests based on their expertise of the game. Featured games range from popular to obscure and from decades-old classics to new games still in development. Between seasons, the podcast often adds an "Evolution" epsiode featuring concepts and ideas to help players have a better roleplaying experience.
As hosts, Amelia and Ryan are knowledgeable, passionate, and very personable. Their love and enthusiasm for the subject matter shines through, and it makes the show an enjoyable and rewarding listen. If you're overwhelmed with the number of actual play and GM-centric podcasts, Character Creation Cast will give you a different way to learn about systems and could inspire you to try them on your own. Highly recommended.
