Comic Book Podcast | Talking Comics

The best way to tell you how good this podcast is is by letting you know that I grew up reading comics. I've always kept an interest but I haven't been reading comics for years. I discovered this podcast and now aged 51, I'm back in the game. The team give a fascinating insight into what's out that week and they are top notch. Highest honours go to Bob Ryer- his encyclopedic knowledge and love of comics is one of the things I love listening to. I've bought DC's New Frontier and collected Kirby/Lee Fantastic Four thanks to this bunch and I'm reading new comics again. Definitely a must-listen podcast.

As said before, mainly, but not exclusively, focus on Marvel and DC. This is one of my favourite comics related podcasts. Usually consisting of a 4-person presentation, one of the fab things about this podcast is everyone has their chance to speak. No-one dominates, although Bobby as facilitator, clearly has the job of keeping the whole thing on track...a job he does very well indeed...despite the occasional (fun) divertion! Listening each week it is clear that everyone has a great love for the medium, combined with (particularly in Bob's case) a huge wealth of knowledge and experience. It's really like listening to well-informed best friends that we've never met! There have been some criticisms that the team can be too pro-feminist...total hogwash! This team of 3 men, 1 (slightly demented but very cool Steph) woman, have strong opinions and they don't shy away from expressing them..they will not and cannot stand for discrimination of any type and all this means is that these guys are in tune with modern life and not the immature, diversive, views of the vocal minority of comic-fandom. A great listen, fun and informative....definitely a highlight of the podcast week!

They've got the history covered, the technical aspects, the latest news, interviews with creators past and present, guest hosts from other corners of fandom, opinion pieces, debates, and informed recommendations that will keep you fully engrossed in your favourite past time. Could not recommend highly enough.
