    Remembering Robb Elementary

    We Were deeply saddened by the deaths of 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary on May 24, 2022. In this episode, Tyler and Tara discuss the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation's initiatives for making the United States of America a better and safer place for our children. We also reflect on the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the tremendous unity of communities, businesses, Congress, and the President that were the catalysts to pass this legislation. Our hope is that the people of this great nation will once again come together to have true conversations that will result in unity to protect our children, who are some of the most vulnerable among us We would like to express our gratitude for and support of the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation.     Disabled Dad and Disability Rights Advocate: Brian Dalton

    In Episode 11, we sit down with our first crip parent, Brian Dalton. Brian lives in Ireland, is a husband, and the father of two children. He is blind and also has Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, a form of muscular dystrophy. Topics discussed in this episode include Brian's childhood and marriage, how Brian adapts to being a disabled parent, and Brian's advocacy on behalf of disabled people in Ireland.     In episode 8, we conclude our interview with Ray Wright. Ray tells us about moving to Utah and continuing to improve his woodworking skills by learning from a blind woodshop teacher. He also talks about developing a passion for the lathe and starting his own woodworking business. Additionally, he talks about how an opportunity to substitute teach woodshop at his local Center for the Blind turned into a fantastic job. This episode is packed with great stories about how Ray adapted to blindness, dealt with the doubts of other people, and gave other people a better quality of life along the way.     In episode 7, we continue Ray's story. Having learned that nothing more could be done to stop his progressive vission loss, Ray decided to look into adjustment to blindness training. Ray talks about what adjustment to blindness was like and what it was like to receive a Dog Guide from Guide Dogs for the Blind. We end with a chat about how wonderful service dogs are.
