Must-listen stuff

I’ve been on a bit of a health kick these last few months, going on long walks, and for the last few weeks Dead Eyes has been my listening material of choice.

If you’ve not listened to it, the premise might sound a little, well, needy - actor gets bumped off a Tom Hanks show, spends years struggling to come to terms with it.

It is not like that, though, it is warm hearted, positive, inquisitive and spirit-lifting. It isn’t even just about Connor Ratliff and his experience - whilst listening to this I had recently gone through a tough experience in my own line of work, and I found much of the discussion absolutely relevant to what I do, and how I had been feeling, it was genuinely cathartic.

The arc of conversation across three seasons is brilliant, and what shines through is how awesome his guests are - all warm, clever, entertaining people, and the end result is some genuinely touching content, full of humanity and warmth.

Marvellous stuff.

What a ride…

I’m genuinely bereft I’ve reached the end of this show. I just binged it in 5 days during my Covid self-isolation, and I loved every single second of it. I relate to so much of it, being an actor, and I found it moving, hilarious, insightful and full of humanity. I recommend it to anyone.
