DOD128: The Age of Nonconsensual Deepfakes

AI technology is advancing ridiculously quickly. Some day, if not today, AI image generators will be able to create incredibly realistic pornographic photos and video of... anyone. Including children. So, what are our responsibilities as dads? Is it possible to make this technology safe for our kids, and if it isn't, who bears responsibility for that?
Also, little easter egg: only patrons will know what the constant noise in Tom's background is. You need to have heard the April 2024 bonus to be in the know!

DOD125: Teaching Our Kids To Read Good

DOD125: Teaching Our Kids To Read Good

Eli has been teaching Max to read... OR HAS HE. Max is an amazing reader already and the dads talk about how their kids learn anything and whether or not it is, in fact, magic. Then for reasons that will likely come out in litigation, Tom and Eli hijack the show to talk about books. Thomas is filing suit and cannot comment further about this episode at the current time.

DOD124: Call Your Own Damn Pizza

It's time for another "Am I the Asshole" iteration of Dads! This time it's a dad who won't call to order pizza for his daughter who has anxiety. But there are a lot of details that make or break the assholeness. The dads go on to talk about challenges like this they've had with their kids.

Matt K 86 ,

Surprised to find my favourite pod. I didn’t think something so wholesome could be so insanely funny

As a non-Dad, I wasn’t especially interested in this show when I heard the premise, but I love Eli, Thomas and Tom from their own shows, so eventually I thought I’d listen. I am now addicted to it. I think I was expecting banter about kids that I couldn’t quite relate to, but it’s about a lot more than that. It’s really about being a human, being a partner, being a man, being a friend. It’s been the catalyst for so many fruitful conversations with me and my partner and other friends, and it is also just so side-splittingly laugh out loud funny that I think I would listen even if I was a desiccated sociopathic husk of a human, just because the wit and chemistry of the three hosts is just such a perfectly balanced cocktail of funny and smart and crude and wholesome

I was unsure but totally won over now

I’ve listened to all 3 of the guys for over ten years and when this project was announced felt a bit meh about the premise. I was so wrong! May be my favourite of all their podcasts. Brilliantly done.

Glimmer of hope

Other, more politically centred podcasts hosted by Eli, Thomas and Tom often induce me with profound existential dread. This collaboration is a much needed ray of hope. Even though I’m not a dad the thoughtfulness, love and sheer joy they constantly show makes me look differently at my own relationships with my parents. I give Dear old Dads 5 stars.

Ps. I’m looking forward to a live show, hopefully somewhere in Europe.
