The Incredibly True Adventure of DLDT

The Incredibly True Adventure of DLDT

This week we're discussing The Incredibly True Adventure of 2 Girls in Love (1995) directed by Maria Maggenti starring Laurel Holloman (who many will know as Tina in The L Word) and Nicole Ari Parker.

We both LOVED this film and how realistic is it, I guess they weren't joking when they branded it "incredibly true."

It's such a comfort film, with the light hearted feel. So, join us, as we discuss new hobbies, Randy Dean being the crush of our 16yr old self and Becca's love for motel scenes.

The One Where We Talk about ‘Feel Good’

The One Where We Talk about ‘Feel Good’

In today’s episode, we discuss our favourite scenes, characters and moments that occurred in the two seasons of ‘Feel Good’ that are available to watch on Netflix. It is a semi-autobiographical comedy series starring and co-created by Mae Martin who portrays themself. Other famous phrases include Charlotte Ritchie who plays George and Lisa Kudrow who plays Mae’s mum, Linda. Mae is a comedian and after her gig, George comes up to them and they get on really well.. so well that they move in together almost immediately which comes with its own set of challenges! Feel Good navigates Mae’s addictive behaviours whether that be sex, drugs and wreckless relationships. It is truly a wild ride and a deeply touching one at that; especially when it covers gender and sexuality. Saving Face

    Saving Face

In this week’s episode of DLDT podcast, we review Alice Wu’s first feature film is ‘Saving Face’. Wil, played by Michelle Krusiec, is a lesbian who is terrified about telling her widowed mother Hwei-lan, played by Joan Chen, or her extremely traditional grandparents, who all live in the town of Fleming, about her sexuality. However, she is surprised to find out that she's not the only one in her family holding back secrets when she discovers that her 48-year-old mother is pregnant out of wedlock. Unwilling to reveal who the father is, Hwei-lan is kicked out of her parents' home and shunned as a result so therefore, she moves in with Wil, which then puts a strain on Wil's budding relationship with openly gay Vivian, portrayed by Lynn Chen. We discuss different aspects of the film such as how it can be difficult to date when one half is out and the other is still in the closet, the issues we have with coming out and our fondness for the soft relationship between the two characters.
