Everyday Mulemanship

I am pretty unusual in this country, having two donkeys and a mule. My mule Myrtle is a rescue with a traumatic past but she is desperate to overcome her fear and learn. I am learning fast at the same time and it has been invaluable to listen to the podcasts from someone with a wealth of experience which he is generously prepared to share and to whom mulemanship is normal. Myrtle is incredibly headshy and scared of most people and anything that can be used as a weapon; it has taken more than 18 months but I can now catch her, put a headcollar on her quietly and touch her all over. The final break through came from going down to the yard every hour for 8 hours, doing a little then leaving her to soak - I can't tell you how happy I was when the headcollar buckled up on the last try or how useful that piece of advice from Ty was. I am now concentrating on catching with quality before starting the groundwork videos. All the podcasts are interesting and enjoyable as well as packed with tips but I particularly like the ones where Skye joins Ty.
