    The Plans of the Diligent

    Imagine you met someone who won the lottery & received ten million dollars only to spoil all that money & end up poorer than before. You probably think that this is crazy & yes it is. But this example happens quite often. The American Bankruptcy Institute states that about a third of lottery winners end up going to bankruptcy court & the average time it takes for this to happen is between 3-5 years. Not only does this image point to what I talked about last week w/ the dangers of loving money, it also points to our verse for today. So if you have your Bibles, turn w/ me to Proverbs 21:5. Chesterton said this. “The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.” Today we are going to talk about being soldiers who defend and Peter is going to tell us what we defend. It is our living hope, which is eternal life. And so our ability to defend eternal life is based on our love for it. Like a father who loves his kids and would be willing to die for them, we too must love this hope, if we want to defend it. So let’s look at 1 Peter 3:13-15 to see how we are to defend.

    History of the Wolves (Wolves in Sheep's Clothing) ~ Jonny Oswald

    Last week we introduced our series “Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing” where we talked about Christians being led astray by false teachers who claim to be Christians but are not. So this week, we are continuing to look at the book of Jude to examine the history of these wolves. These things may shock you, but I think they are crucial for us especially right now given the time we are in where people are questioning their faith which is actually someone else’s faith and so many people who we thought were Christian have denied Christ for the world. Let’s now look at Jude verses 5-8. These are the Holy Words of God.

    Instructions for the Christian Household (Pt. 3 - Younger Men) ~ Jonny Oswald

    Last week we discussed the godly instruction or doctrine given to women and we wrestled with some unpopular principles like wives submitting to your husbands and being caretakers or workers of the home. But throughout our series we have pointed to the key difference between principles and customs, where principles are timeless and customs are timely. This is important because we saw that this instruction consisted of principles to apply, not customs that only applied during that time. Well today we are going to focus on the instruction given to younger men. So let’s jump right in.
