Each week Giles Coren finds himself with no idea what to write about in his weekly column. Having read all the papers and found nothing of interest whatsoever, he takes a break and does the school run. That’s where his wife and fellow journalist Esther Walker comes in. Upon his return, Esther has half a dozen ideas she’s spotted ready to knock around with him over the kitchen table and a much needed pot of coffee.

This week, the voice of Hey Duggee, Classic FM breakfast host andeveryone's favourite quizmaster...Alexander Armstrong joins Giles to reminisce about his love of sticky toffee pudding, pie day at school and a bizarre pudding called junket.

Making my Day

Dear Giles and Esther, I love you both. I’ve just discovered your podcast (advertised in The Times article on Saturday) so decided to start on Number One and work my way forward. I’m already dreading reaching 2021 and having to wait for a week for a top up (I’m currently mainlining it as I type). My only complaint is that I’m laughing so much, my kids who are at home (schooling) keep shouting at me that I’m distracting them from their work. I’m cooking and keep adding the wrong ingredients too as a result. In 2009 (I was on maternity leave and remember it well!) your rant about vegetarians having an eating disorder had me in stitches for weeks. Thankyou for brightening up life, which with the absence of restaurants, travel and more importantly Family, has been slightly less colourful. I work in General Practice, and feel that you’re both providing your own rainbows for all of us to enjoy!

Brilliant

Love this. Always turned first to his column & this podcast makes me laugh. They have great rapport chucking out ideas for a column I still turn to first. These 2 are so good together. Great fun in dark times.

I love this podcast

Only thing that could make it better would be more Esther. Or an Esther-led spin-off series with interviews etc? Just a thought, guys…
