    The Invitation: What the Frick Is a Shrike?

    Send us Fan Mail On the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are saying “screw you!” to a bunch of English vampires. We watched the 2022 film from Jessica M. Thompson, The Invitation. We think many of us dream of getting a free trip to the English countryside to stay in a massive castle. Just the novelty alone would be incredible. There’s a lesson to be learned from this movie, though. If a smooth-talking Englishman claims to be a distant relative, then we should all go running in the opposite direction. The cool digs are not worth being turned into an undead, blood-sucking monster.     A Good Person: Amor Fati

When it comes right down to it, accidents happen to everybody. We all hope that our next accident is something as minor as breaking a plate. Sometimes, though, they can be far more disastrous. What’s important to understand and internalize is that there’s always, always love and compassion somewhere out in the world. Sometimes in the most unlikely of places. Just like Allison in this movie, we all deserve grace. The trick is learning how to accept it.     Palm Springs: You Said You Didn’t Want the Day to End!

It’s the age old question: if you find yourself stuck in a never-ending time loop, cursed to relive the same day seemingly for eternity, what would you do every day? Sometimes we find it hard to figure out what to do on any given weekend. Forget trying to come up with an activity after your fiftieth year of the same damn day. Poor Nyles. At least Sarah had the right idea: if you’re stuck, then why not learn about quantum physics?
