Dr Asma Bashir completed her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, after having completed her BA in Psychology at Boston University. As founder and host of Her Royal Science – a podcast created to feature individuals from minoritised groups in STEM – she creates audio and written content delving into the most cutting-edge STEM research in an accessible manner, with the simultaneous goal of highlighting the individuals behind the research.

    Hi friends, welcome to this new episode. I have had the pleasure to interview one of my besties, Miss Charlie Bingham! Charlie is at the beginning of her journey and is a masters student, currently studying journalism with a focus on her love for wildlife and conservation. Charlie has had a varied journey so far, coming from an Archaeology degree into conservation but is hoping to showcase how a varied skill set can be beneficial in the workplace. Charlie is passionate about empowering women and parents in STEMM, as a single mother to two boys she has seen first hand the struggles of being a woman and parent in academia and now in the workplace. Charlie's goal is to become a wildlife broadcaster and author and hopes to inspire others in a similar position to reach for their dreams.     Hey friends, welcome to the next episode of this podcast. Today I am interviewing Dr Stéphanie Blockhuys. Stéphanie is a cancer scientist studying trace metal like copper in cancer disease. She is a standing alone mother of a 4 yrs old daughter. Stéphanie lived in Belgium until she finished her PhD, moving then to Sweden in 2013 for her postdoc. Later on, in 2020, she enrolled as a postdoc at the cancer centre of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, in New York. Stéphanie is now back in Sweden and will soon start a researcher position at the cancer centre of Gothenburg University with the intention to establish her research group.

    Hello folks, welcome to this new episode! Today I had the pleasure to interview my colleague (and fellow spanish friend) Dr Maria Marin! Dr Maria Jose Marin is a Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK. She started her independent career in October 2017 after having had more than 5 years of postdoctoral experience. Maria’s PhD research focussed on the development of fluorescent probes and nanoprobes for the intracellular detection of nitric oxide and pH. Since then, Maria’s research interest has been on the use of nanotechnology for different biological application including as intracellular sensor, diagnostic tools and as drug delivery system.

    Hello folks, welcome to the third episode of this season. This one is a good one! Today we will be listening to a good friend of mine, Zoё. Zoё Waller is an Associate Professor in Drug Discovery at UCL School of Pharmacy. As part of her role there she leads a team working at the interface between chemistry and biology and is interested in the different types of structures that DNA can fold into. She also contributes towards teaching pharmaceutical and biological chemistry on the undergraduate MPharm course in Pharmacy, and for the MSc programme in Drug Discovery and Development. She has also just taken up the role of Associate Director for Research for the school.
