In 1966, the Bourbon Orleans Hotel opened its doors - and since then, countless guests and staff have reported seeing spirits that dance, laugh, and even watch you while you sleep.  Long before it became a luxury stay in the French Quarter, the land hosted a renowned theatre, an opulent ballroom, and later a convent, school, and orphanage. 65: Casket Girls - New Orleans

In the 1700s, New Orleans was part of a struggling French colony desperate for new residents. So, naturally, they started importing women to help grow the population. But when 88 of these women arrived - deathly pale and carrying coffin-shaped luggage - it’s said they tore through New Orleans on a vampiric murder spree, leading the local nuns to imprison them in a convent attic…where some say they remain to this day.  Today, we’re exploring the legend of the Casket Girls and the real women who inspired it. Correction: The Anne Rice novel Gina mentions is Interview with the Vampire, not Interview for a Vampire. Gina pleads not guilty by reason of slight inebriation.  Story starts: 12:59 📖Book recommendations:  A Dowry of Blood by S.T. 63: The Enfield Horror - Cryptids

In 1973, reports surfaced of a strange creature prowling the woods of Enfield, Illinois. According to witnesses, it had three legs, tiny arms, huge eyes, and a knack for shrieking like a banshee (but who among us, right?). As sightings continued, residents found themselves embroiled in a desperate search for answers. Overrun by out-of-town “monster hunters” and sensationalist press, this story charts one small town’s rapid descent into full-blown panic. Grab a scoop of something extra comforting, and settle in for a tale of mystery, paranoia, and of course, cryptids.  Story starts: 12:07 🎧Podcast rec: Check out Beth’s Dead 🍦Check out What’s the Scoop if you’re ever in Point Pleasant! 62: The Hodag - Cryptids

We’re travelling to the Northwoods of Wisconsin where the cheese is squeaky, the beer is cold and the scariest thing you could encounter in the woods is the infamous Hodag, a terrifying cryptid that haunted loggers for years. But where did the story of the Hodag originate? Was it really captured at the end of the 19th century? And what, for the love of God, does Paul Bunyan have anything to do with this?! Snuggle up next to the campfire and join us for the infamous tale about the most ferocious beast of the Northwoods🌲👀 Story starts: 12:03 Welcome to I Scream, You Scream, where Gina & Kathryn serve up your weekly scoop of the most chilling histories, mysteries & paranormal perplexities – all with a side of ice cream! 🍦Flavor of the Month: Rainbow Sherbet 💀Topic of the Month: Cryptids   🖤Join our Patreon for bonus content, shoutouts, and exclusive treats! 61: Mermaids - Cryptids

We’re kicking off 2026 with an age-old question: Are mermaids real, or what???  Today, we’re deep diving (pun intended) into the long, tangled history of mermaid folklore, sightings, and modern-day theories. We trace our favorite aquatic friends from the first “real” mermaid in 1000 BC, through famous sailor logs (including a new reason to hate Christopher Columbus), all the way to modern-day sightings. And that’s before we even get to the science part - like how little of the ocean we’ve actually explored, why modern technology wouldn’t spot mermaids, and where mermaids could be living at this very moment. EPISODE CORRECTION: As of June 2025, 27.3% of the global seafloor had been mapped (not 20%).   Story starts: 6:00 Welcome to I Scream, You Scream, where Gina & Kathryn serve up your weekly scoop of the most chilling histories, mysteries & paranormal perplexities – all with a side of ice cream! 🍦Flavor of the Month: Sherbet 💀Topic of the Month: Cryptids   🖤Join our Patreon for bonus content, shoutouts, and exclusive treats!
