Do you want to learn how an Android device can be used by the blind? iBUG advanced members, Ava Carruth and Harshid Trivedi, facilitate the Android Insight training session. The training is open to anyone desiring to become more proficient at using the Android accessibility features of Google's operating system, which can be used on many different devices. While iOS has the popular "Talking Tuner," Android users are encouraged to explore Guitar-Tuner and use "accessibility" as a primary search keyword to find compatible tools. The Great Message Migration: A critical update for Samsung users—Samsung Messages is going dark in July 2026. The team recommends switching to Google Messages now to take advantage of RCS (Rich Communication Services) and seamless web integration.    Hardware Spotlight: Expert advice for low-vision users looking to upgrade. The consensus? The Samsung Galaxy S-Series and Google Pixel (specifically the Pixel 10a) are the gold standards for high contrast, large font scaling, and long-term OS support. Talk-Back Mastery: A "lightbulb moment" for many: moving app icons has changed!     Facilitators: Ava and Harshi Topics:  Samsung Z fold issue with zoom;   Where did the controls go? Go to APP settings and make sure all the permissions are set. Turn on everything; Use 1 finger and double tap in the middle of the screen;  Cannot swipe to left or right;  Check to make sure you are not in driving mode;   Alexa APP on the phone will not set an alarm or timer, check permissions;  Ear buds Bluetooth If you do not want to use Bluetooth, you would need to get a headset with  a USB C connection.  Recommendations suggested; Losing more vision and cannot see the apps , what can you use to help?  Talkback is a screen reader that can help to tell you feedback on the Blind Android users on YouTube can help to walk you through the beginning;  Had turned it on and it talked everything;  You can also use select to Speak Overview on how to use select to speak;  Using Talkback on a Samsung Tablet  Discussion on losing vision;  Navigating email using talkback;  Using voice commands

    Facilitators: Ava and Harshi Topics:   Brief  discussion about the session at the ACBT State conference- talked about Gemini and how live worked and gave a remark back.  Issue with using Gemini; Sometimes it does not respond/understand me when using the wake command;   Uses the side button  to talk with Gemini With the upgrade,  I had to go back and set the prompt  to have the beep;   Go into the assistance settings to add the prompt back;   Some still have the assistance APP;  Need to go in the accessibility section under the settings section;  When I go to the playstore, it has all the various categories; How can I tell what needs to be paid, subscription, Increase the sensitive in  settings If you are on a pixel, Gemini is  assistance of choice; Is there a way to switch between AI mode to Assistance?;  Tap the voice search button to get the regular google voice, search has a button to check to use Google AI;  You can still say Gemini is in another language, how to change it?  Demo on where to go change the language, Go to settings under google or the assistance app, Install from the playstore, languages maybe the first one.  Brand discussion Fire tablet – speech is call voice view You can say Alexa, turn on voiceview; I used to be able to say Hey Google call, now Gemini is pulling up names  and seems to be sluggish or ask me to call different people;  Suggestion: you have to add the people to favorites If it ask you the wrong name, go to thumbs down to report it;  Tell it that when I call always call from my contacts With messages, how to copy or share a message Tap twice with 3 fingers to copy or tap once with 3 fingers, or copy last spoken phrase;   Subscriptions for Youtube;  Youtube premium  account  - youtube music  for free Or family has multiple users; What is the difference between them all Using YouTube on the TV ; Google TV Volume goes higher and does not keep the settings;  YouTube Tv  volume goes higher How to tell if the APP is free or a charge? Meta AI glasses
