Ranking The Beatles
Musician and self-described Beatles fanatic Jonathan Pretus ranked the entire recorded catalog of the Beatles, because he's a big, big nerd. Then he decided to make a podcast to talk with other people and learn about their connection with The Beatles' music. Tune in as Jonathan and his guests, joined by his co-host/wife Julia (a more level-headed, casual fan) discuss the rankings, what they think makes each song so great (or not-so-great), and see if it really is a fool's errand to try and rank the music of the greatest band of all time. Brilliantly entertaining Beatles podcast

Following a recommendation I listened to the ‘Hilarie Sidney’ RTB show when it aired at the end of Feb and have since been hooked, listening to each and every one of the shows before finally catching up earlier this month. Standout episodes for me have been those featuring Mike Viola, Kit o Toole and the excellent Andrew Sandoval but all guests and episodes have been highly engaging, informative and entertaining… Jonathan and Julia’s style is so very endearing and I love the blend they bring in Jonathan’s total fanaticism in all things Beatles being tempered by Julia’s grounded, gentle appreciation. It would be good to hear Ed Chen( WTWF) and/or Nick Anthony (Winter of discontent) as guests in a future episode but keep up the great work guys… You make us ‘Beatle heads’ very happy and to paraphrase the great man himself (We are) ‘Forever in your debt’…
Enthusiastic Assessments Spoiled By Political Views

Entertaining look at the Fabs' catalogue and Jonathan's enthusiasm and love for it comes through. Some baffling, low rankings of obviously superior tracks i.e. Back In The USSR and The Long And Winding Road. Some good guests too. My advice to the presenters would be to keep their political allegiances to themselves as listeners are there for music/entertainment and not to be brainwashed. Not great to alienate some people and things said can date very quickly opening you up to looking rather foolish down the line.
Funny, irreverent, loving and wrong!

A brilliant idea of a very personal ranking of The Fabs’ tunes. Way outta line placing The Word below Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. And what’s Back in the USSR doing down in the depths!? I always thought that was an untouchable stone cold classic! The hosts and their guests obviously love The Beatles but are satisfyingly irreverent about them and are very funny regarding their missteps. A fascinating insight into how others think about these classic tracks which gets me thinking about them in new ways. She’s a Woman! 😂

So happy to stumble upon this podcast. Feels like you’re back in the pub chatting to mates, over 2 lagers and lime and 2 lagers and lime, about the best subject matter 🙂
