Bridging the Worlds of Health, Hair Care, and Wellness with Stacey Brown

Stacey Brown is a registered nurse turned award-winning entrepreneur and the founder of Kanuni Brown®, a nurse-formulated, evidence-based clean beauty brand created to rescue hair from damage—and from the everyday risks that cause it. Inspired by her grandmother Emma’s salon legacy and motivated by her own hair-care challenges during the pandemic, Stacey combined her healthcare background, passion for education, and love of beauty to create products that bridge the worlds of health, hair care, and wellness. The name Kanuni means “principle” in Swahili, reflecting the three principles at the heart of her brand: wellness, community, and legacy.  Since launching Kanuni Brown® in 2022, Stacey’s innovative approach to hair care has earned national and international recognition. Her Avocado & Quinoa Protein Repair Conditioner Smoothie won First Place in the Hair Treatment category at the 2025 International Clean Beauty Awards, and Kanuni Brown® has been recognized as a “Clean Beauty Brand to Know” in the USA and an emerging leader in the clean beauty industry. Her products have also been nominated for the 2027 Clean Beauty Awards, marking the brand’s third consecutive year of recognition. But for Stacey, entrepreneurship has never been just about building a business—it’s about building impact. A lifelong volunteer and community advocate, she has supported more than 15 nonprofit organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club, Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Capuchin Kitchen, and Great Lakes Women’s Business Council.  Today, she continues that tradition through Kanuni Brown®, supporting local food, clothing, and toy drives and sponsoring initiatives that uplift families in her community. Stacey has been featured on WDIV’s “Live in the D,” Civic Center TV’s “The Splash,” and in numerous clean beauty publications and articles. Locally made and internationally recognized, she stands at the intersection of beauty, health, entrepreneurship, and community—proving that sometimes the best business ideas come from solving a problem you know personally.  Her philosophy is simple: “We don’t sell—we solve.”   Website: https://kanunibrown1.com Instagram: @kanunibrown Warning: Some episodes contain explicit language.
