Enjoyable podcast until they got to the Evil Dead Rise discussion and it started to pander and feel disingenuous.
It baffles me how anyone who claims to be an Evil Dead superfan can honestly say they enjoyed the Evil Dead Rise, which was totally devoid of originality, imagination and understanding of the source material. It felt more like a paint by numbers blumhouse movie akin to a cheap hellraiser sequel than a worthy instalment of such a beloved franchise.
The 2013 film was far superior to this trash. A tonal shift from the original trilogy, but at least it knew what it was trying to achieve.
If you genuinely liked this movie, cool...I'm just not convinced that you did. Suppose it's all good content though.
