#90: Panarin Trade Revisited, With Injected New Trade Insanity

Episode 90 of Blueshirt Bandwidth is the Vlad Nemestnikov Episode—Joe is on a private jet to a Caribbean island, so Eric and Chip are joined by Ryan Mead of Blueshirts Breakaway to relitigate the Artemi Panarin trade in the wake of Brady Tkachuk going to Florida. Ryan thinks Drury got fleeced, Chip argues the age, term, and NMC situation made the trades genuinely incomparable, and Eric zooms out to his "forest vs. trees" thesis on how each Drury move looks defensible in isolation and catastrophic in aggregate. Then Chris Feldman and Roberto from Blueshirt Banter join to break down the first-round mock draft in real time as NHL Trade-mageddon unfolds around them—Eklund to Ottawa, Kyrou to Washington, and the utterly baffling Bowen Byram deal that sent the fourth overall pick to Buffalo while everyone on the pod tried to keep up. Plus: the mailbag covers dodgeball lineups, the rebuild/retool semantics debate, Adam Fox's future, Chip's CBA proposal to rein in no-movement clauses, Ryan's bold prediction that Pat Brisson is the next Rangers GM, and the Ombudsman Report on Scott Stevens' body count, cup-winning goalie archetypes, and Chuck Knobloch erasure. #86: How About Those Knicks, Eh?

Episode 86 of Blueshirt Bandwidth has Eric back after a week away, and the boys have plenty to chew on. The Mount Rushmore of Rangers personalities kicks things off , and the Ombudsman Report dings Joe for calling Colorado "a wagon that's going to steamroll the East" as they're on the verge of being swept by Vegas (when this is recorded). Then the real stuff: John Tortorella is now in the Stanley Cup Final as an interim head coach after getting fined $100,000 and costing Vegas a second-round pick for skipping a mandatory press conference, and Joe and Eric cannot find a single note. Brett Howden is on a playoff tear but it's a black swan event, and the revisionist Rangers history needs to stop. MSG Holdings is separating the Rangers and Knicks into distinct entities. Will Dolan even still own the Rangers in five years? The Knicks are running the best 11-game stretch in NBA history, the order of New York's #11s gets settled (Brunson, Messier, Simms), as well as which coach's seat is hottest going into next year. Joe also makes a solemn vow: if the Rangers get Stenberg, he's buying the jersey before the kid plays a single game. Give it a listen! #85: Pay Up for Trocheck, Bill Guerin

Episode 85 of Blueshirt Bandwidth has no Ranger to its name—nobody ever wore the number—so Joe and Chip lean on the $85-a-year ad-free tie-in, Mike Richter going 28th in the 1985 draft, and a whole lot of roasting Eric for the way he says "Wolf Pack." Charlie Vidal's Ombudsman Report cleans up the draft order (the Rangers land 26th, not 27th, after Buffalo's Game 7 overtime collapse in Montreal) and dings Eric for sending Cam Talbot to the wrong college. Then the real stuff: Minnesota is eating itself alive over Kirill Kaprizov's contract and an unsigned Quinn Hughes, and the guys think Bill Guerin should finally pay up for Vincent Trocheck, with Danila Yurov as the prize and Florida, Detroit, and even New Jersey lurking as suitors. They make the case again for trading up to second overall for Stenberg with Braden Schneider as the centerpiece, dig into why the Rangers swear Schneider is untouchable but have never once treated him that way, lay out Carson Carles as the fallback at five, and watch Caleb Malhotra slide to Vancouver. Plus Connor McDavid being mad at the wrong guy, Vegas refusing to let anyone interview Bruce Cassidy, and a question-thread romp that crowns J.T. Miller the last Ranger you'd want on a deserted island and Matt Rempe the first. Give it a listen! #84: Trade Up for Stenberg, Bid Farewell to Benoit Allaire

Note: We had connection issues when recording this episode, so if some transitions seem kind of rocky, that's why. Episode 84 of Blueshirt Bandwidth is the Adam Edstrom episode, and Eric and Joe fight Riverside through multiple connection meltdowns to get into the long version of the fifth-overall conversation. They think the Rangers should be on the phone with Mike Grier about trading up for the second overall pick and Ivar Stenberg, with Braden Schneider as the centerpiece. Caleb Malhotra is almost certainly gone by five, Carson Carels is the consensus fallback, Eric does not want to endure another Keaton Verhoeff-can't-skate cycle, and Viggo Björck would be a reach at five no matter how much Snark and Roberto like him. Benoit Allaire is retiring and goes straight to Valhalla, Bill Guerin should have traded for Vincent Trocheck and now the Wild are a game from elimination, the Sidney Crosby lottery absolutely was rigged but most of the others are not, and Chip's trade proposal—the second overall pick, the 20th, Michael Misa, and a secondary prospect for Adam Fox—is one both guys would actually do. #83: LIVE from Rangers Lottery Miseryville

Episode 83 of Blueshirt Bandwidth is the first-ever live stream, and Eric and Joe spend the first 25 minutes watching the Rangers fall to fifth overall in the NHL draft lottery in real time—the mathematically worst-case scenario—while Toronto somehow wins the right to draft Gavin McKenna. Joe's heart rate hits 140 beats a minute, the lottery may or may not have been rigged, and the long argument about whether Caleb Malhotra makes it to fifth begins immediately. Hartford Wolf Pack correspondent Keegan Jarvis joins to walk through a 32nd-place season, the firing of Grant Potulny's and his entire coaching staff, the Scott Morrow situation, why Brett Berard's stock cratered, why Adam Sokora and Jaroslav Chmelar look like real NHL players, and why Dylan Garand is ready to back up Igor Shesterkin next year. Then it's the Tanner Glass promotion (Eric and Joe agree it's not about Tanner Glass the player), the Toronto presser disaster with Steve Simmons and new GM John Chayka, a Mount Rushmore of New York sports broadcasters that somehow includes Doc Emrick, and whether John Cooper should actually be on the hot seat in Tampa.
