Beyond Willpower: Could Nutrition Be a Missing Piece in Addiction Recovery with Christina T Veselak

This episode reframes addiction recovery by spotlighting a commonly overlooked factor: brain nutrition. Christina, a psychotherapist and certified nutritionist with decades in addiction work, explains how many people who chronically relapse have ‘starving brains’—inconsistent eating, ultra-processed diets and depleted neurotransmitters. She outlines practical strategies: 20 grams of protein every four hours, targeted amino acids (tyrosine, theanine, 5-HTP, D-phenylalanine), and high-dose omega-3s. Listeners learn how these interventions can quickly reduce cravings, stabilise mood, improve ADHD symptoms, and make psychosocial and spiritual recovery work. The conversation includes real client stories and clear, immediately usable recommendations. Beyond the Mind: Trauma, Mediumship and the Soul with Dr Dorie Le Sieur

What happens when two people connect so naturally that the conversation begins before either of them realises the interview has started? In this extraordinary episode of The Healing Odyssey, Emma is joined by Dr Dorie Le Sieur for an open and deeply personal exploration of trauma, psychology, spirituality and the parts of human experience that cannot always be contained within conventional boxes. Born in Persia during the Iran–Iraq War and later raised across several cultures, Dr Dorie shares how her experiences as an immigrant, US Air Force veteran, nurse and psychologist shaped her curiosity about human behaviour, consciousness and healing. She explains why she believes psychology should make room for the body, the soul and the many different ways people seek meaning after trauma. Together, Emma and Dr Dorie explore: • Why talking alone does not always reach the deepest parts of trauma • Family patterns, inherited beliefs and family constellation work • The importance of acknowledging pain without remaining trapped inside it • Grief, addiction and the experiences that can shape relationships across generations • Meditation, intuition and Emma’s powerful experience of seeing her mum • Psychic and mediumistic experiences • Hypnotherapy, consciousness and encounters that challenge conventional explanations • UFOs, extraterrestrial experiences and the possibility that humanity may not be alone • The importance of curiosity, discernment and remaining open without abandoning critical thought Emma also speaks candidly about losing her father when she was three, her mum’s relationship with alcohol and the emotional understanding that eventually helped her view their relationship with greater compassion. Dr Dorie Le Sieur, PsyD, MBA, is a psychologist, clinical hypnotherapist, consciousness and UFO/ET researcher, three-time bestselling author, international speaker and US Air Force veteran. Her work brings together psychological insight, personal experience and spiritual exploration. This is a conversation about looking beyond labels, remembering that we are human beings first and becoming curious about the experiences that shape who we are. It is also, naturally, a conversation involving colourful funerals, sparkling backgrounds, fabulous nails and National Coffee Ice Cream Day. Because this is The Healing Odyssey—and you never quite know where the journey will take you. Please note: This episode explores personal experiences and spiritual beliefs alongside psychology.
