    The Annoying Aunty Traits EXPLAINED

. The Annoying Aunty Traits EXPLAINED. No filter. *1. Hoarding / Stockpiling* Grew up with scarcity. No resources. So now she hoards everything like it's going to disappear. *2. Fear mongering, always anxious, projecting fears on you* Grew up in uncertainty. Immigrant generation. Scarcity mindset. Nervous system is stuck in survival mode so everything feels like a threat. *3. Controlling & Judgemental* No frame of reference in a new country. Conformity = safe. Your unusual choices feel risky to her. Needs community approval to feel okay. *4. Always talking about herself / Main character syndrome* Was overlooked growing up so now she overcompensates. Sees other women as competition for resources / attention. Anxious attachment. Zero sum thinking — if you get attention, she thinks she gets zero. *5. Complaining 24/7* Physical complaints were the only way she was allowed to express herself. No language for mental health. Complaining is how she gets care and love because she doesn't know how else to connect. *6. Blunt, rude, ignorant, insensitive* Never learned how to sugarcoat anything because she was in survival mode. Grew up in an echo chamber where everyone talks like that. Thinks tough love is normal. Just projecting her own rough past onto you. *7. "What will people say??"* Conformity feels safer. Community opinion was literally how she measured if she was a good parent / good family. Her survival wiring says community acceptance = belonging = someone will help you when you need it. This is why they are like that. Which one do you notice the most in your family? Drop it below. #foryoupage #fyp #southasian #browntiktok #therapytok

. *People pleasing isn't just being "nice" — it can train people how to treat you.* This is for my fawners. 🤍 When we fawn to keep the peace, we might unintentionally teach people that our boundaries are negotiable. Here's how it can escalate: *1. Operant Conditioning:* You say yes when you mean no to avoid conflict. They learn: push a little = she'll agree. *2. Boundary Testing:* The small asks get bigger. Being late, guilt-tripping, raising their voice — to see what you'll tolerate. *3. Desensitization:* What once felt not okay starts to feel normal. You minimize it. *4. Escalation - Aggression:* When pleasing stops working, they may escalate to intimidation, yelling, or aggression to get the old response. This is NOT your fault. Fawning is a survival response your nervous system learned to keep you safe. *How to prevent / interrupt the pattern:* *Before:* Get clear on your non-negotiables. Practice small nos. "Let me think about it and get back to you" buys you time. *During:* Use short, calm boundaries. "I want us both to feel safe, I need to pause." Don't JADE (justify, argue, defend, explain). Give space, keep exits clear, prioritize safety over being liked. *When to call it and go no contact:* If your boundaries are consistently violated, you feel drained after every interaction, apologies happen without change, you walk on eggshells, and your mental health is suffering — despite repair attempts — it may be time to create distance. Protecting your peace is not punishment, it's protection. If you feel unsafe at any point, leave and get support. You don't have to stay to prove you're kind. You deserve relationships that feel safe, respectful, and supportive. What is one small boundary you are practicing this week? Share below 👇 --- This is educational content, not therapy.
