  1. Ep 33: Why divorce advice sometimes makes everything worse

Ep 33: Why divorce advice sometimes makes everything worse

Hi lovely, Today’s podcast is about something I think so many women experience in divorce… myself included … but don’t always realise it’s happening. When you’re trying to do all the “right” things, get all the right information, listen to the podcasts, ready the advice, talk to solicitors … then by the time you’re trying to make a good decision you’re already overwhelmed. Then another email arrives.A handover is coming up.Your ex sends a message. And suddenly your whole body goes into panic. Your chest tightens.Your brain seems to be completely against you. You can’t think straight.Everything feels too much. And then the really frustrating part? The advice that was supposed to help becomes triggering too. There are just too many words, too many options, too many things to ‘get wrong’. That’s what I’m talking about in today’s episode: When advice stops being useful… It’s not that you’re weak or dramatic or “not coping properly”. It’s that your body is bracing before your brain has even caught up. And this is exactly why I created my new free 3-part series: When Divorce Feels Like Too Much Part 1 is available now and walks you through what to do in the first 10 minutes after a trigger, so you’re less likely to lose the whole day to panic, spiralling, overthinking or shutdown. Then Part 2 goes live tomorrow and we go deeper into how to stop divorce getting unlimited access to your nervous system, your sleep, your energy and your life. » Listen to today’s podcast above or wherever you get your podcasts » And then watch Part 1 here or save it for later: You don’t have to keep living in reaction mode. You’ve got this. And I’ve got you.Hannah XOX PS Save the Date Part 3 of When Divorce Feels Like Too Much is live on Wednesday 13th May at midday. I’ll walk you through my Calm-First Method, and how it helps you steady yourself and settle the spiral, so you can choose your next steps with intention instead of living in constant reaction mode. Ep 32: What Women Actually Need in Divorce, and It’s Not More Advice

My love, This week’s podcast is about something I’ve learned very clearly over the last year: When you’re going through divorce, you usually do not need more advice first. Ep 32: What Women Actually Need in Divorce, and It’s Not More Advice In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve learned about what women actually need in divorce. I’ve also created something free for next week to celebrate Magic Divorce Club turning one! It’s called: When Divorce Feels Like Too MuchA free 3-part series for divorcing mums Part 1 goes live on Monday, so make sure you’re subscribed to the MDC here: I’ll be sharing the details tomorrow. What about you? You may have been here a year now and never told me what’s really going on for you. So please do accept this invitation: this is your time, and i’d love to hear from you. Imagine we’re sat over a coffee (oat chai, hot choc, whatever you fancy), then answer these 2 questions for me... 1. What is the moment in divorce that knocks you off centre fastest?2. When that happens, what do you most wish you had help with? I’d really love to hear it in your words. It can be one line and it doesn’t need to be polished. I know you may be here quietly reading and never usually reply, but you matter and I want to know what’s going on. Thank you so much and I’ll get back to you, personally, asap (if you don’t hear from me, check your spam). You’ve got this. And I’ve got you.Hannah XOX PS Links from this episode:Magic Divorce Club / SubstackHow to divorce Sober This is a public episode. 4. Ep 31: It’s not really about the house

    23 APR

Ep 31: It’s not really about the house

My love, Here’s this week’s Magic Divorce Club podcast episode: Ep 31: It’s not really about the house Why housing decisions in divorce feel so loaded, and what’s actually underneath them If the house feels like the hardest part of divorce, you are not being dramatic because very often, the decisions you need to make aren’t actually about the house. It is about what’s IN the house. What the house represents. What it has held. What you think you might lose. In this episode, I talk about why the house can carry so much emotional weight in divorce. * Safety. * Motherhood. * Identity. * Money. * Grief. * The future you thought you were going to have. And WHY you might be feeling stuck. I also talk about: * why moving can feel far more unsettling in your body than you expect * why staying is not always the safest option * why selling is not failure * why change can feel dangerous, even when it may actually be better for you * why there can be different parts of you wanting different things at the same time If where you’re going to live has been a hard issue for you, I think this episode will help you feel less alone with it. Listen above or wherever you get your podcasts. And if you are listening and thinking yes, this is exactly the part I’m stuck in, this month’s Magic Divorce Club workshop next Wednesday is here to help with both sides of it. What Happens to the House? Wednesday 29 April at 12pm UK This is emotional support first, practical clarity second. So not a huge overwhelming info dump. A steadier space to help you work through both the practical questions and the emotional weight they are carrying. You can reserve your place here: Please note, this workshop is included for LUXE members, you can upgrade your membership here. If decisions around the house feel huge, that because they are. It’s so much more than just a house and you don’t have to figure it all out today. You’ve got this. And I’ve got you. Hannah XOX PS Show notes In this episode I mention: * the shame triggers around motherhood - inspired by Brene Brown * An earlier MDC episode: * the earlier episode with Suzie on the practical side of the house question: * This months’s workshop What Happens to the House? on Wednesday 29 April This is a public episode. Ep 29: Before You Make Any Big Decisions About the House

My love, If home feels like the most overwhelming part of divorce, you are not imagining it. For so many women, this is where panic can kick in fast. * Where am I going to live? * What happens with the kids? * Will I be forced to move? * Can I afford to stay? * What if I make the wrong decision and regret it later? That kind of uncertainty can send your whole body into alarm. And then… it’s very easy to start thinking you need to decide everything immediately. You don’t. This week on the podcast, I’m talking with my friend Suzie Martin, from Smart-in Mortgages, about the house side of divorce and why this part feels so loaded. We talk about: * why housing uncertainty can feel so destabilising * what people often misunderstand about staying in the family home * why rushed decisions made in fear can make everything feel harder * what it means to slow down, get the facts, and stop assuming the worst Rather than a deep-dive into mortgages. It’s a steadier place to start, to hear a few important truths, and stop spiralling before you make any big decisions about the house. Huge thanks to Suzie for helping us wade through this tricky and complex part of Divorce!! If this is the part of divorce that has been keeping you up at night, I think this episode will help. “What Happens to the House?” - April’s workshop If you want more support with this, I’m running a live workshop with Suzie on 29th April » called What Happens to the House? It’s for divorcing mums who feel anxious and overwhelmed about housing uncertainty and need calm-first support, simple clarity, and one practical next step. We’ll look at: * what happens if one person wants to stay * what happens if neither of you can afford it * what lenders are actually looking at, in simple language * how to create safety for you and your kids, even when everything feels up in the air As always, this workshop is free for LUXE members of the MDC and you can upgrade your subscription here: (be sure to choose the ‘LUXE’ option, which is currently £250 for a whole year’s worth of support!) Or you can get your ticket for £37 here. For now, start here with the podcast. You do not have to solve the house today. You just need to feel safe enough to take your next step. You’ve got this. And I’ve got you. Hannah XOX PS Show notes from this episode * Get in touch with Suzie * Suzie mentions: Halifax mortgage borrowing calculator and NatWest how much can I borrow calculator * How to Divorce Sober * April’s What Happen’s to the House workshop - midday, 29th April (free for LUXE members) This is a public episode.
