#113 - What If You Just Started?

What if the biggest thing standing between you and the life you want is simply getting started? In this solo episode of The Growth Voyage Podcast, I explore how overthinking, perfectionism and the need to have everything figured out can stop us from taking action. Drawing on my experiences in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, professional wrestling and podcasting, I share how learning to embrace being a beginner has opened doors I never could have anticipated. We explore why clarity often comes through action, how to overcome the fear of starting something new, and why letting go of control can help us enjoy the journey rather than constantly worrying about the destination. You don't need the perfect plan or to know exactly how you're going to get there. Sometimes, taking that first step is enough. If you're feeling stuck, struggling with decision paralysis or waiting for the right moment to pursue something meaningful, this episode is for you.The Growth Voyage Podcast explores self-leadership, personal growth, identity, and what it means to build a meaningful life. The Growth Voyage is about building a life you genuinely believe in, rather than one shaped by approval, expectations or who you think you’re supposed to be. #112 - ADHD Made Me Question My Entire Life | Spike Trivet

What happens when an ADHD diagnosis makes you question everything you thought you knew about yourself? In this episode of The Growth Voyage Podcast I'm joined by professional wrestler Spike Trivet for another instalment of The Max Moody Lens, where we explore the psychology of professional wrestlers and the people behind their characters. Spike opens up about his experiences with ADHD, people-pleasing and the struggle to express himself authentically. At 35, he found himself moving back in with his parents after losing much of his income. His ADHD diagnosis would eventually change how he understood his past, bringing both clarity and an unexpected sense of grief for the person he might have become. We explore the relationship between his wrestling character and his personal experiences, the masks we wear to fit in, and what it really means to be yourself. It's a conversation about identity, self-acceptance and the ongoing journey of discovering who you are. #111 - Are You Building a Life You Actually Enjoy?

What are we actually working so hard for? After wrestling at a bar mitzvah in front of around 130 people and bringing together a group of guests from The Growth Voyage, I found myself reflecting on how much of the life I once dreamed of I'm already getting to experience. But behind those moments are the ordinary days. The work, the responsibilities, the setbacks and the sacrifices that come with building something meaningful. And it's made me question my own relationship with hard work. In this solo episode, I explore whether the difficult days are simply the price we pay for the experiences we love, or whether there's something fulfilling about the work itself. I reflect on my desire to keep building, the possibility of creating more freedom in my life, and whether I'd actually want to slow down if I eventually reached that point. Along the way, I share some thoughts on gratitude, ambition and learning to appreciate what's already here, even while there's still plenty more I want to achieve. Because I keep coming back to one question: am I building a life I genuinely enjoy living, or one I'm hoping I'll eventually get to enjoy? The Growth Voyage is about building a life you genuinely believe in, rather than one shaped by approval, expectations or who you think you’re supposed to be. #110 - The Search for God: Is Jesus the Only Way? | Colton Beasley

Can surrendering control, guilt, fear, and the need to fix yourself bring you closer to God and help you find deeper purpose? In this episode of The Growth Voyage Podcast, we welcome Colton Beasley — a follower of Jesus and Christian evangelist — to discuss Christianity, faith, surrender, salvation, the Holy Spirit, purpose, and building a personal relationship with God. Colton shares how he grew up in church but still felt a “God-sized hole” in his life, trying to fill it through relationships and alcohol. He explains how understanding Jesus, grace, forgiveness, and the cross changed the way he viewed guilt, shame, and his own life. We explore self-help vs faith, Jesus vs religion, heaven and hell, free will, suffering, spiritual warfare, and personal responsibility. Colton also opens up about infertility, miscarriage, marriage struggles, adoption, family, and faith during difficult seasons. The conversation also touches on money, material success, eternal life, creation, the Bible, Christian morality, identity, sacrifice, and what it really means to surrender your life to Jesus. #109 - When You’re Going Through a Difficult Time

What do you do when life changes and you don't know what comes next? I'm going through a difficult season of my own right now. There's been grief, sadness, anger, doubt and a lot of uncertainty. Rather than waiting until I've made sense of everything, I wanted to record this episode from inside the messy middle. I talk about sitting with difficult emotions instead of trying to escape them, the difference between feeling and overthinking, leaning on the people around you, maintaining the habits that keep you grounded, and how my faith has helped me find some peace in the unknown. I also explore what painful periods can teach us about what really matters, why some lessons have to be lived rather than understood intellectually, and why you don't need to have all the answers right now. If you're grieving the end of a relationship, navigating a major life change, questioning your direction or simply going through a difficult period, this episode is for you. #108 - The Hardest Person You’ll Ever Have to Conquer Is Yourself | Rocco Garzya

What if becoming stronger isn’t about avoiding struggle, but learning how to use it? In this episode, we welcome professional wrestler and coach Rocco Garzya, known as “The Supreme Leader,” for a conversation about leadership, discipline, self-mastery, resilience, masculinity, purpose and becoming the strongest version of yourself. Rocco shares his journey from Italy to England, where he faced loneliness, limited English, difficult training environments and personal setbacks while trying to build his career in professional wrestling. Today, he competes regularly and coaches the next generation at Apex Wrestling. Rocco opens up about self-leadership, mental toughness, sacrifice, responsibility, ego, ambition and failure, and why he believes real leadership starts with learning how to lead yourself when nobody is watching. We also explore one of the darkest periods of Rocco’s life, when pain, disappointment and isolation forced him to confront his weaknesses and rebuild himself. Instead of allowing those experiences to defeat him, he gradually transformed them into hunger, discipline and a deeper sense of purpose. From the difference between seeking approval and setting your own standards to the role of adversity, ambition, spirituality and personal responsibility, this conversation ultimately asks a bigger question: are you becoming the person you know you’re capable of being, or choosing comfort because it feels safer? The Growth Voyage is about building a life you genuinely believe in, rather than one shaped by approval, expectations or who you think you’re supposed to be. #107 - When Self-Improvement Starts Holding You Back

What if the advice that helped you grow is now holding you back? In this solo episode of The Growth Voyage Podcast, I explore the "darker" side of self-development and how qualities like resilience, discipline, positivity and personal responsibility can become traps when we turn them into identities. I reflect on my own relationship with pushing through discomfort, trying to become more grounded, learning when to trust my intuition, and even how my pro wrestling character Max Moody has challenged some of my ideas about authenticity and self-expression. We also explore the amount of self-improvement advice we consume, how other people's philosophies can shape our decisions, and why there might not be one perfect way to live. Maybe the answer isn't another philosophy. Maybe it's learning to discern what you actually need. #106 - The Real Reason We Struggle to Connect | Zvi Band

What if the way you’re trying to prove your worth is actually making it harder to genuinely connect with people? In this episode, we welcome entrepreneur and author Zvi Band, who co-founded relationship-focused CRM Contactually, to talk about relationships, self-worth and what happens when achieving the success you’ve been chasing still doesn’t make you feel fulfilled. Zvi shares how his approach to relationships evolved from traditional networking towards something more genuine, why the people around us have such an impact on who we become, and how imposter syndrome and the stories we tell ourselves can stop us from connecting. We also explore Zvi’s own experience with burnout and self-worth after selling his company. Despite reaching a milestone many entrepreneurs spend years chasing, he realised he was still trying to prove himself through achievement — and had to confront a much deeper struggle with loving and accepting himself. From building meaningful relationships and outgrowing friendships to the arrival fallacy and David Brooks’ idea of the “Second Mountain”, this conversation ultimately asks a bigger question: are you building the life you actually want, or the one you think will finally make you feel enough?
