Faith Through the Fight | Alex Hopson’s Kidney Transplant, Faith & Entrepreneur Journey #35

At just 23 years old, Alex Hopson has already faced battles that many people will never experience. At only 16, Alex was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease, beginning a journey filled with doctor appointments, uncertainty, difficult decisions, and challenges that would completely change his life. By the age of 19, Alex had undergone an organ transplant. For the past five years, regular blood tests, medical appointments, and managing his health have become part of everyday life. But this episode of the Alex Martinez Daily Chop Podcast isn't only about kidney disease or surviving a transplant. It's about faith, perseverance, family, mindset, entrepreneurship, and learning how to keep moving forward when life doesn't go according to plan. Alex opens up about some of the real thoughts and struggles he experienced following his diagnosis. We discuss the moments when he underestimated what a doctor's appointment might bring, the uncertainty surrounding his health, and what it was like knowing his parents were walking through the fear and pressure alongside him. We also dive into the role faith in God played throughout his journey. Alex shares how his parents' faith helped create the foundation for his own relationship with the Lord and how that faith became something he could lean on when circumstances became difficult. Today, he credits God with carrying him through some of the hardest seasons of his life. But the conversation doesn't stop with his health. While continuing to manage life after a kidney transplant, Alex stepped deeper into entrepreneurship and real estate, becoming involved with more than 100 rental properties at a young age. We talk about something almost everyone can relate to: What do you do when you're having a bad day, but you still have responsibilities? There are days when you don't feel like walking into the office with a smile. There are days when your circumstances, stress, fear, or thoughts can begin pulling your mind in the wrong direction. Alex and I discuss the importance of learning how to redirect our thoughts throughout the workday, regain focus, and keep moving forward instead of allowing one difficult moment to control the rest of the day. We talk about mindset, discipline, overcoming obstacles, and understanding that sometimes you have to intentionally change the direction of your thoughts before you can change the direction of your day. Alex also shares what his difficult days actually look like, how he works through them, and how his experiences with kidney disease, transplantation, faith, family, and business have shaped the young man and entrepreneur he is today. In this episode, we discuss:• Being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease at 16• Receiving an organ transplant at 19• Life after a kidney transplant• Years of blood tests and medical appointments• The mental and emotional struggles surrounding serious illness• Watching your parents walk through the battle with you• Building faith through difficult circumstances• Trusting God when you don't understand what is happening• Redirecting negative thoughts during difficult workdays• Developing mental resilience and discipline• Overcoming bad days without allowing them to control you• Entrepreneurship at a young age• Real estate investing and managing more than 100 rental properties• Facing obstacles in business and everyday life• Finding purpose through adversity• Faith, family, perseverance, and personal growthThis conversation is a reminder that faith doesn't mean we won't face the fight. Faith can become what teaches us how to walk through it. Whatever you're facing today, your circumstances don't have to control the direction of your thoughts, and your struggles don't have to determine the direction of your future. Alex Martinez Daily ChopAvailable on all platforms. The Pain Behind Addiction | Overdose Awareness, Trauma & Identity

This week on the Alex Martinez Daily Chop Podcast, we tackle drug addiction, substance abuse, overdose awareness, trauma, identity, grief, prevention, and the impact addiction has on families and communities. Alex Martinez sits down with Jessica and Kathy from the Defiance County Health Department in Northwest Ohio for an honest conversation about why people turn to drugs, the emotional pain behind addiction, overdose loss, childhood trauma, and the road toward awareness, prevention, healing, and recovery.Addiction is rarely just about the substance. For many people, drugs become a way to numb pain, escape trauma, suppress emotions, or cope with experiences they were never taught how to process. We discuss how growing up in families where feelings weren't talked about can leave wounds buried beneath the surface. Those unresolved experiences can influence identity and eventually cause someone to believe that their trauma, addiction, mistakes, or past define who they are.Jessica shares from her own experiences surrounding drug abuse and trauma. Kathy opens up about the devastating reality of overdose within her family and what addiction and overdose leave behind for the people who love someone struggling with substance abuse.Alex also shares from personal experience about losing someone after years of drug addiction and the serious physical consequences long term drug use can have on the body, including cardiovascular disease. The conversation explores an important side of the addiction crisis that is sometimes overlooked, the trauma, grief, fear, and emotional scars carried by families. We ask difficult questions:Why do people turn to drugs? What pain are they trying to numb? How can childhood trauma and unresolved emotions affect identity? Why are feelings and trauma so difficult for some families to discuss? What happens to a family after addiction or an overdose death? How can drug education, overdose prevention, community resources, and honest conversations help save lives?Jessica and Kathy also discuss an upcoming drug and overdose awareness event at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, on August 26, bringing people throughout Defiance County and Northwest Ohio together to raise awareness, provide resources, and address the impact of substance abuse, addiction, and overdose.Alex Martinez Daily Chop will be speaking at the event, continuing the conversation about addiction, identity, loss, hope, prevention, and reaching people who may be struggling in silence. This episode is for anyone affected by drug addiction, substance abuse, overdose, trauma, grief, or addiction within their family. Will You Trust God Enough to Act? | Faith That Moves | Nat & Alex | Daily Chop Podcast

What is biblical faith? Is faith simply believing in God, or is it demonstrated through the way we live? How do we trust God when we can't see the outcome? And how do we correct other believers with truth while still extending the grace that Christ has shown us?In this episode of the Daily Chop Podcast, Alex Martinez and Natalie dive into one of the most important topics in the Christian life—faith in action.Using James 2 as a foundation, this conversation explores why genuine faith is never passive. Faith is more than agreement with God's Word; it is trust that leads to obedience. Throughout Scripture we see that Noah built before it rained, Abraham obeyed before he understood, Peter stepped out of the boat before he knew how the story would end, and every follower of Christ is called to trust God enough to take the next step.We also discuss one of the enemy's greatest strategies—attacking our identity. From the Garden of Eden to Jesus' temptation in the wilderness, Satan has consistently questioned who God says we are. If he can confuse your identity, he can influence your decisions. Discover why knowing your identity in Christ is essential to walking in faith and fulfilling God's purpose.Another major topic is the power of our words. Scripture teaches that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Are we speaking faith or fear? Hope or doubt? Learn why our confession should align with God's promises instead of our circumstances. We also talk about correcting fellow believers with wisdom, humility, and grace instead of falling into legalism or the spirit of religion. Grace is not permission to continue in sin—it is the power to live transformed. Religion points fingers, but Jesus restores people.Whether you're a new believer or have followed Christ for years, this conversation will encourage you to trust God beyond your comfort zone and live out a faith that moves. In This Episode:• Biblical faith • Faith in action • James 2 explained • Trusting God • Identity in Christ • Spiritual warfare • The power of your words • Speaking life • Grace vs. legalism • The spirit of religion • Correcting with wisdom and love • Christian discipleship • Spiritual growth • Walking in obedienceKey Scriptures:James 2:17 • James 2:26 • Matthew 17:20 • Proverbs 18:21 • Ephesians 6:10-18 • Romans 8:1 • Galatians 2:16 • John 8:31-32If this episode encouraged you, follow the Daily Chop Podcast, leave a review, and share it with someone who needs encouragement in their walk with Christ. Sponsor Spotlight Today's episode is sponsored by author Karen Souter and her book Blood Bought. Communication is about more than just talking—it's about understanding. In this episode of the Daily Chop Podcast, Alex and Natalie Martinez have an honest and practical conversation about one of the biggest challenges every marriage faces: communication. Why do couples stop understanding each other? How do healthy marriages navigate difficult conversations? What causes communication to break down, even when two people deeply love one another?Whether you've been married for one year or thirty, this episode is designed to encourage couples to grow closer through intentional communication, patience, grace, and understanding.Throughout this conversation, Alex and Natalie share personal experiences, practical relationship advice, and biblical principles that have helped strengthen their own marriage. Instead of offering perfect answers, they discuss real-life struggles that many husbands and wives experience every day.In this episode, we discuss:• Why communication is about understanding—not simply talking.• The difference between hearing your spouse and truly listening with empathy.• How patience and grace create healthier conversations.• Why your tone of voice often communicates more than your words.• Learning to see situations from your spouse's perspective instead of only your own.• Why responding thoughtfully is more productive than reacting emotionally.• How setting aside work, phones, distractions, and busy schedules creates healthier marriages.• The damaging effects of the silent treatment and why emotional withdrawal slowly breaks trust and intimacy.• Practical ways to rebuild connection after conflict.• How small daily conversations often strengthen marriages more than one big conversation.Strong marriages aren't built because couples never disagree—they're built because couples learn how to communicate through disagreements with love, humility, and respect.Whether you're newly married, engaged, dating, rebuilding your relationship, or have been together for decades, this episode provides practical tools that can help improve communication, deepen connection, and strengthen your relationship. At Daily Chop, our goal is to have authentic conversations that meet people right where they're at. Why I Ran from God Until I Learned the Truth | Micah Shelton

Can someone outrun God's calling? Can you ever go too far for God to redeem you? What happens when fear, legalism, and religion convince you that you'll never be good enough? In this episode of The Alex Martinez Daily Chop, Alex Martinez sits down with Micah Shelton for an honest conversation about running from God, discovering His grace, and learning the difference between religion and a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.Micah shares his story of growing up during his parents' divorce while attending a Pentecostal church. As a young boy, he repeatedly heard people tell him that God had a calling on his life. Instead of bringing peace, those words became a burden. He believed that if he failed God, there would be no redemption.Like Jonah, Micah found himself running. We begin by studying Jonah and asking why people run from God. Was Jonah simply running from Nineveh, or was God using the journey to transform Jonah's heart? We explore how God often works on our hearts before He works through our calling. Many believers can relate to Micah's story. They've been taught that one mistake or season of failure means God is finished with them. Others have grown up believing Christianity is about trying harder, performing better, and never failing. Those beliefs often leave people carrying guilt and condemnation instead of walking in the freedom Jesus offers. We also discuss Paul's teaching that no one is justified by keeping the Law of Moses. Salvation is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ—not by perfect performance. Trying to earn God's acceptance through works only places us back under a burden Christ came to fulfill.Another important part of this conversation is learning what true repentance looks like. Rather than holding onto guilt, we're called to quickly confess our sins, receive God's forgiveness, and continue walking with Him. God isn't looking for perfection—He's looking for hearts that trust Him.Micah also shares his experience attending Bethel Worship School, where encountering the presence of the Holy Spirit deepened his understanding of God's love, grace, and purpose. In this episode:• Why people run from God• The story of Jonah• Growing up in a Pentecostal church• Parents' divorce and childhood struggles• Feeling the weight of a calling• Religion versus relationship with Jesus• Grace versus legalism• Salvation by faith• Paul's teaching on the Law of Moses• Repentance and forgiveness• Identity in Christ• Bethel Worship School• The presence of the Holy Spirit• Church hurt and healing• Walking with God despite our imperfectionsIf this conversation encouraged you, follow The Alex Martinez Daily Chop and share this episode with someone who needs to hear that God's grace is greater than their past. The Alex Martinez Daily Chop features authentic conversations about faith, veterans, leadership, mental health, purpose, family, and the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.#Jesus, #ChristianPodcast, #Faith, #Grace, #Jonah, #BibleStudy, #HolySpirit, #Forgiveness, #Repentance, #Salvation, #Legalism, #Gospel, #BethelWorship, #MicahShelton, #AlexMartinez, #DailyChop

The Book of Enoch: Should Christians Read It? | Faith & Biblical Truth with Zoe Velez

Enoch Walked with God: What His Life Teaches Us About Faith | The Book of Enoch with Zoe VelezWhat made Enoch different?Genesis tells us that "Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away." His life wasn't defined by perfection, but by faith. In this episode of Alex Martinez Daily Chop, we sit down with Zoe Velez to explore the life of Enoch, discuss the Book of Enoch, and most importantly, uncover what Scripture teaches about living a life that truly walks with God.This conversation isn't about chasing hidden knowledge or sensational topics. It's about understanding why faith has always been God's standard, from Genesis to the New Testament, and why our relationship with Christ is built on grace instead of our ability to perfectly keep the law.Together, we dive into some of the Bible's most powerful teachings on faith, righteousness, grace, and spiritual maturity. In this episode, we discuss:• Who Enoch was and why his walk with God still matters today. • The Book of Enoch and why Christians continue to discuss its historical significance. • Why faith, not perfection, has always been central to God's plan. • James' warning about being double-minded and how divided thinking weakens our walk with Christ. • The incredible power of the tongue and why our words reveal the condition of our hearts. • James' examples of the bit in a horse's mouth and the rudder of a ship, showing how something small can determine the direction of an entire life. • How our prayers, confession, and daily speech can either align with God's promises or work against our faith. • Romans' teaching that God's promises come through faith by His grace, not through human effort or works. • Why trying to earn righteousness through the Law places us under a burden we were never meant to carry. • Paul's explanation in Galatians using Sarah and Hagar, revealing the difference between striving in the flesh and trusting God's promises. • Why Ishmael represents human effort while Isaac represents God's promise fulfilled through faith. • How Jesus fulfilled what no one else could, becoming the only One capable of perfectly satisfying the Law. • Why Christ is our hope, our righteousness, and our lifeline for salvation. • How Abraham and David were credited with righteousness because they believed God, even though they were imperfect men. • What it truly means to walk with God in today's world. This episode is an invitation to shift your focus away from performance and toward relationship. Too many believers carry unnecessary guilt because they believe God accepts them based on perfection. Scripture tells a different story. Throughout the Bible, God consistently honors those who trust Him. Our obedience matters, but it is the fruit of genuine faith, not the means of earning salvation.Whether you've been studying the Book of Enoch for years or you're simply trying to strengthen your walk with Christ, this conversation will challenge you to examine where your confidence truly rests: in your own efforts, or in the finished work of Jesus Christ. If this episode encouraged you, please subscribe, leave a review on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and share it with someone who desires a deeper understanding of God's Word.Follow Alex Martinez Daily Chop Faith • Leadership • Biblical Teaching • Real Conversations#BookOfEnoch #Enoch #Faith #WalkWithGod #JesusChrist #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #AlexMartinezDailyChop #ZoeVelez #Grace #Romans #Galatians #James #Abraham #David #ChristianFaith #BiblicalTruth #Gospel #ChristianLeadership #DailyChop https://randrnwo.com/?fbclid=IwVERDUAS7zdlleHRuA2FlbQIxMABzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAwzNTA2ODU1MzE3MjgAAR4uWHLuIgIg7TXib-cy3geNwglYZI-THGSJ7ATdQr_sujkq-ubCdeZWdmrGoQ_aem_i4rCW6JFJRcSWvXh_1FIiQ

Four men. Four American lives. Four stories that ended far too soon. Some wars never end when the deployment does.In this deeply personal solo episode of the Alex Martinez Daily Chop, retired U.S. Army combat veteran Alex Martinez opens by honoring four American service members whose lives were lost. While their names and personal details remain private, their sacrifice serves as a powerful reminder that freedom has always carried a cost. From there, Alex shares one of his most honest and emotional conversations yet about the hidden cost of war. He speaks candidly about the invisible wounds many veterans bring home, PTSD, grief, trauma, survivor's guilt, and the lifelong battles that often continue long after the uniform comes off. This episode isn't about politics. It's about perspective. In a culture consumed by political arguments and division, Alex asks a difficult but necessary question:What are you doing with the freedoms so many Americans have sacrificed to protect?America has flaws, but it remains a nation built upon extraordinary sacrifice. Rather than taking our liberties for granted, Alex challenges listeners to consider how they are using their constitutional rights to strengthen their families, serve their communities, and leave the next generation better than they found it.The conversation also explores the recent Detroit Tigers incident involving a young woman wearing a Jesus hoodie, discussing how Christians are called to represent Christ with both conviction and wisdom in a divided culture.Alex also reflects on pivotal moments in American history, including the Lee Resolution, George Washington's early military service, and the events surrounding the French and Indian War that helped shape the nation we know today. Understanding where America came from gives greater appreciation for the freedoms many overlook every day.If you're a veteran, active-duty service member, first responder, patriot, history enthusiast, father, or someone searching for deeper purpose, this conversation is for you.In this episode:• Honoring four fallen American service members• The hidden cost of war beyond the battlefield• PTSD, trauma, and the lifelong impact of combat• Why freedom always comes with responsibility• America's strengths, struggles, and enduring promise• Faith, patriotism, and servant leadership• The Detroit Tigers Jesus hoodie controversy• George Washington, the Lee Resolution, and America's founding• Using your freedoms to make a differenceIf this episode encouraged or challenged you, subscribe to the Alex Martinez Daily Chop, leave a 5-star review on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and share it with someone who needs this perspective. The Alex Martinez Daily Chop exists to strengthen faith, leadership, discipline, resilience, families, and communities through authentic conversations rooted in truth, service, and purpose. Keywords: hidden cost of war, fallen soldiers, veterans, combat veteran, PTSD, military sacrifice, Army veteran, patriotism, American history, Constitution, George Washington, Lee Resolution, French and Indian War, Christian leadership, faith, purpose, veteran mental health, Alex Martinez Daily Chop, Daily Chop Podcast.#Veterans #Military #PTSD #Patriotism #AmericanHistory #Faith #Leadership #ArmyVeteran #DailyChop #AlexMartinez #July4th #freedom
