Episode 24 Say What You Mean Without Losing Yourself

Episode 24: Say What You Mean Without Losing Yourself How often have you said yes when you really wanted to say no? In Episode 24 of Shift Alignment™, Say What You Mean Without Losing Yourself, we’re talking about finding your voice and learning how to communicate what you think, feel, need, and want—without guilt, overexplaining, or losing yourself in the process. For me, learning to say no became personal. As the oldest child, I grew up understanding that part of my role was helping take care of my younger siblings. But as we became adults, I had to recognize that those roles needed to change too. I had to learn that loving someone, supporting them, and being there for them did not mean I had to say yes to everything. And I had to learn something else: No is a complete sentence. In this episode, we’ll talk about why saying no can feel uncomfortable, how family roles and expectations can follow us into adulthood, and how to communicate our decisions with both clarity and kindness. You can love people and still have boundaries. You can be supportive without taking responsibility for everything. And you can say what you mean  📘 COMMUNICATION SERIES REFLECTION WORKBOOK Continue the conversation with the companion workbook. Use the reflection questions, practical exercises, Scripture, and Shift Moment to take what you hear in the episode and apply it to your own life. 👉 Get Your Workbook: 📘 COMMUNICATION SERIES REFLECTION WORKBOOK As you listen, ask yourself: Where am I saying yes when what I really need to say is no? Your voice matters. Your boundaries matter. And learning to communicate both with clarity and respect is part of the shift. 🎙️ Shift Alignment™ with Louvenia Hollowell-Ellis 🌐 Website: louveniahollowellellis.com 📱 Facebook & Instagram: @Ms.Louvenia 🎧 Listen on: Spreaker • Apple Podcasts • Spotify Keep shifting your mind and aligning your life. Episode 23 Communication Starts With You

Before we focus on how everyone else communicates, what if we started by looking at ourselves? In Episode 23 of Shift Alignment™, Communication Starts With You, we’re having an honest conversation about self-awareness and the role we play in the way our conversations unfold. Are you really listening—or waiting for your turn to respond? Are you making assumptions before the other person finishes speaking? Are you bringing frustration, expectations, or past experiences into a conversation without realizing it? Becoming a better communicator isn’t about getting every conversation right. It begins with becoming aware of how you show up. In this episode, we’ll talk about listening with intention, recognizing our communication patterns, taking responsibility for what we bring into conversations, and learning when the person across from us may need something different than what we naturally want to give. 📘 COMMUNICATION SERIES REFLECTION WORKBOOK Take the conversation a little deeper with the companion workbook. Reflect on what you heard, answer thought-provoking questions, spend a reflective moment with Scripture, and identify your own Shift Moment. So before your next conversation, ask yourself: How am I showing up? Awareness may be the first shift you need. Communication Series Introduction

Communication Is More Than What We Say | The Communication Series Communication is about more than the words we speak. It’s how we listen, respond, set boundaries, handle disagreements, and show up in our relationships. 📘 COMMUNICATION SERIES REFLECTION WORKBOOK Want to go deeper as you listen? Use the companion Shift Alignment™ Communication Series Reflection Workbook to pause, reflect, answer thought-provoking questions, explore Scripture, and identify your own Shift Moments. In this special introduction to the Shift Alignment™ Communication Series, Louvenia Hollowell-Ellis shares the personal realization that inspired the series: as an executive and life coach, she discovered that she was bringing her coaching approach into personal conversations—asking questions, looking for solutions, and trying to help—when the person across from her may have simply needed her to listen. That realization led to one simple but powerful question: “Would you like me to just listen, or would you like my thoughts?” Throughout this series, we’ll explore self-awareness in communication, finding your voice, saying no without guilt, establishing healthy boundaries, listening with intention, and navigating difficult conversations with honesty, wisdom, respect, and grace. You don’t have to be a perfect communicator. You just have to be willing to become more aware and intentional about how you show up. So, can we have a conversation? 🎙️ Shift Alignment™ with Louvenia Hollowell-Ellis 🌐 Website: www.louveniahollowellellis.com 📱 Facebook & Instagram: @Ms.Louvenia 🎧 Listen: Spreaker • Apple Podcasts • Spotify Keep shifting your mind and aligning your life.
