Beyond the Heartbeat: The Hidden Habits Behind Heart Health, and Longevity with Dr. Melanie Icard

Heart health is often discussed in terms of blood pressure, cholesterol, medication, and medical tests. But how do everyday habits, stress, nutrition, sleep, and metabolic health influence our cardiovascular well-being? On this episode of Mind Over Habit, host Moses Dada welcomes Dr. Melanie Icard, a naturopathic and regenerative medicine physician specializing in cardiovascular and metabolic health. With 12 years of clinical experience, Dr. Icard is the author of The Biohacked Heart and creator of the Biohacked Heart Blueprint™, a five-stage approach to examining factors that may contribute to cardiovascular risk. Dr. Icard's work is also deeply personal. After losing her mother in circumstances she associates with the side effects of conventional treatment, she began rethinking her own approach to health and eventually developed a strong interest in root-cause medicine. Together, Moses and Dr. Icard explore the relationship between daily habits and heart health, the effects of chronic stress, the importance of metabolic health, and how people can become more proactive about their well-being. They also discuss the importance of asking better questions, understanding individual risk factors, and working with qualified healthcare professionals to make informed decisions. If you've ever wondered how the choices you make every day may affect your long-term health, this conversation offers an opportunity to think more intentionally about prevention, sustainable habits, and caring for the whole person

I Helped Build a World That Consumed People. and the Road to Redemption with Dr. David Hoskins

What happens when someone who grew up surrounded by faith walks away from everything they once believed, builds a life in a world of addiction and exploitation, and eventually finds a path back to healing? In this deeply personal episode of the Mind Over Habit Podcast, Moses Dada speaks with Dr. David Hoskins, a clinical psychologist, spiritual director, and founder of Honey Lake Clinic and Sanctuary Clinics and Communities. Raised in a family shaped by generations of Pentecostal pastors and missionaries, David once pursued ministry before entering a very different world—one involving Russian organized-crime networks, international distribution businesses, and ownership of adult entertainment venues. After a profound spiritual transformation in midlife, he returned to education and eventually dedicated his work to helping people facing addiction, complex trauma, sexual compulsivity, and other serious mental health challenges. Together, Moses and David explore what addiction can reveal about human pain, why shame can make recovery harder, how faith can support healing, and what happens when people feel rejected by the very communities they hoped would help them. This conversation is about more than a dramatic life story. It is about confronting the truth, understanding the wounds beneath destructive patterns, and discovering that a person's past does not have to determine their future.
