Amazing stuff. I m a non Muslim n loving it!!! Great views n comments and all in fairness. Hopefully more serious issues affecting the image of Islam will be tackled by riazat who does mince her words. ;)

If one looks at the current state of debate about Muslims in the West, you either have critical reporting from a non-Muslim perspective or pointlessly saccharine and defensive commentary from a Muslim perspective. Riazat (and the Guardian) has crafted something in the middle that does far more than either alternative. By providing a Muslim forum for examining the pluralistic nature of Muslim communities and pitting these viewpoints against each other, the excuses and politicisation can now be effectively challenged. Riazat's sense of humour might come across as cynical, but it's hard not to be cynical about the state of Muslim communities these days. Brave and enlightening, and more necessary than ever.
