What You Put Into Your Mind Shapes Your Life with Michele Morley

Michele shares reflections on how what people consume mentally affects their perceptions, energy, attitude, and ability to live with peace and purpose. Using analogies of the mind as a trash can and a vacuum, she emphasizes that everything taken in—through reading, movies, news, or reels—gets stored and influences how one views the world, family, business, and faith. She admits being guilty of not always choosing beneficial inputs and challenges herself and listeners to be more intentional about what they watch and read to protect their “light,” reach full potential, and make a difference. 00:00 Why Women Feel Stuck 00:37 Trash Can Mind Analogy 01:04 Vacuum and Mental Inputs 01:30 How Inputs Shape Life 01:46 Is It Beneficial 02:29 Checking My Media Diet 03:00 Awareness and Purpose Thanks for listening to YES! Turning Pain into Purpose with Brandy Vega

Host Michelle Morley welcomes Brandy Vega—Christian US Army veteran, award-winning media executive, and founder of Promise to Live, a global suicide prevention and mental health movement. Brandy shares faith-driven turning points that taught her to trust God through hardship, take proactive steps without seeing the full picture, and lean on prayer, community, and gratitude during difficult seasons, including losing a Promise to Live volunteer to suicide and supporting a child in crisis. She recounts her daughter’s suicide attempt, a perceived miracle recovery, and the promise that inspired Promise to Live in 2021, emphasizing that many people want to end pain, not life. Brandy teaches practical tools: ASKEM (ask, seek, knock, expect miracles), ASK (acknowledge, support, keep in touch), asking “How are you really?”, 1–10 check-ins, and assuming others like you. 00:00 Miracle Second Chance 02:23 Pivot Pressure And Identity 03:36 Heartbreak And Trusting God 05:49 ASKEM Faith In Action 09:15 Hard Weeks And Asking Help 11:23 Prayer Power And Support 12:49 Chinese Farmer Perspective 14:13 Gratitude Shifts Focus 15:15 Hospital Miracle Promise 17:50 Birth of Promise to Live 18:48 ASK Method Explained 20:43 Ask How Are You Really 22:44 Direct Suicide Questions 23:42 Check In 1 to 10 24:58 Carrying the Urgency 27:07 Media Strategy Millions Reached 28:57 Assume Everyone Loves You Thanks for listening to YES! Setting Priorities with Valinda Hanks

Valinda Hanks from Yes Women’s Network discusses juggling many roles—business owner or employee, wife, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend—and the pressure to be available for everyone. She shares that balance isn’t equal and shifts over time, with some seasons requiring more focus on work and others on family. Valinda describes learning to prioritize presence, recalling how she used to come home focused on chores instead of being in the moment with her kids. Now as a grandmother, she cherishes weekly calls and visits, puts her phone down, and listens even when stories repeat. She also schedules dedicated one-on-one days each month with each grandchild. A conversation with strangers at a bar reinforces her belief to never apologize for answering family calls, since those moments can’t be regained. 00:00 Wearing Many Hats 01:35 Redefining Balance 02:07 Be Present at Home 02:54 Grandkids Come First 03:45 Scheduling Quality Time 04:05 Bar Story Life Lesson 05:05 Choose Presence Always Thanks for listening to YES! Counterfeit Emotions with Curtis Morley

Michele Morley welcomes Curtis Morley, founder of Counterfeit Emotions, to discuss how many emotions have counterfeits that look virtuous but create disconnection, including “nice” as a conflict-avoidant counterfeit of “kind.” Curtis shares how painful life experiences, including divorce and family hardship, led him to distinguish pain from misery, describing misery as blame and shame layered over pain, and teaching that pain is meant to be felt, witnessed, and then moved into action. He explains emotional intelligence as witnessing emotions without acting on them, notes a Stanford study that emotions average 90 seconds, and describes tools like the “emotion bus” to replace counterfeits with authentic twins (e.g., anger with advocacy, anxiety with awareness, suspicion with curiosity). The conversation also covers choosing one’s attitude, identity attachment as suffering, and grounding worth in being a child of God, emphasizing peace as the one emotion that cannot be counterfeited. 00:00 Nice vs Kind 00:22 Podcast Welcome 00:50 Meet Curtis Morley 02:09 Counterfeit Emotions Explained 04:32 Pain That Changed Everything 05:53 Pain vs Misery 10:03 Witnessing Emotions 12:43 Misery Blame and Shame 15:06 When Healing Begins 16:27 90 Second Emotions 18:17 Wedding Canceled Story 24:06 Pain Love and Growth 25:56 Conflict and Marriage 28:58 Kindness Creates Connection 30:39 Nice Versus Kind 32:11 Curiosity Beats Anger 34:44 Movie Theater Mindset 35:57 Sharing Triggers Kindly 37:33 Choosing Your Emotions 43:26 Identity And Attachment 46:55 Emotion Bus Tool 49:11 Anger To Advocacy 52:46 Advocacy Changes History Thanks for listening to YES! Building a Values-Aligned Life with Liz Hartke

On the Yes Women’s Network Podcast, host Michele Morley interviews Liz Hartke of Luminary Leadership Company, nearly 15 years in business, about evolving from marketing to scaling entrepreneurs through leadership and values-aligned growth. Hartge explains burnout often comes from working outside one’s “zone of genius,” and describes using an online leadership style assessment to identify gifts, energy drains, and roadblocks for clients and teams worldwide. She shares a shift in prioritizing proximity and availability for her five children by elevating her team, systemizing operations, choosing family-honoring clients, and batching commitments, integrating kids into work and homeschooling. Hartge challenges one-size-fits-all success, emphasizes intuition, and outlines frameworks including the Clarity Matrix, focusing on “easy/heavy” versus “hard/light,” and choosing a trajectory over rigid goals. She describes daily intentional time with God, mindset discipline, offers a Clarity Playbook via Instagram DM, and previews her upcoming book and podcast, Your Big Next. 00:00 Burnout And Genius Zone 01:02 Podcast Welcome And Guest Intro 01:46 From Marketing To Leadership 04:08 Finding The Sweet Spot 05:55 Assessments For Team Fit 07:30 Burnout Beyond Busy 07:56 Working With Clients Remotely 09:05 Motherhood And Priorities Shift 14:40 Integrating Kids Into Work 18:01 Redefining Success And Calling 21:44 Trusting Intuition Over Noise 22:59 Clarity Matrix Framework 26:24 Hard Versus Heavy Growth 27:21 Goals Versus Trajectory 28:40 Seasons Not Failures 30:27 Ambition Meets Reality 31:56 Steward Schedule Rituals 34:50 Mindset Fighting Nature 35:58 Hobby Farm Lessons 39:08 Clarity Tools Mentors 42:05 God Given Strengths 44:13 Your Big Next Book 46:33 Friendships And Hobbies Thanks for listening to YES! Finding Purpose With Nicea DeGering

Michele Morley explores topics with longtime television personality and Good Things Utah anchor Nicea DeGering for an honest conversation about purpose, identity, and finding confidence through life's changing seasons. Drawing on three decades in broadcasting, Nicea reflects on navigating career transitions, becoming an empty nester, and learning to trust her intuition instead of comparing herself to others. She shares how social media affected her self-worth, the lessons she learned about authenticity, and why true confidence comes from embracing who you are rather than trying to please everyone. The conversation explores the influence of motherhood on her journalism, including how covering the Elizabeth Smart case changed her perspective forever. Nicea also discusses parenting adult children, redefining success at different stages of life, balancing career ambitions with family, and why peace—not achievement—has become her measure of success. She closes with an inspiring reminder that every person brings something unique to the world and encourages women to discover what makes them different and confidently lead with it.
