    How should believers understand and observe Yom Teruah—the Feast of Trumpets?     What Does Teruah Mean? Shofar, Jericho & the Feast of Trumpets | Part 2 | Daily Bread

    What does a teruah actually sound like—and why does Scripture connect trumpets, shouting, gathering, warfare, and holy convocation? In Part 2 of this Daily Bread Yom Teruah study, The Mandated Reporter continues the Hebrew word study by examining qol, the voice or sound; Tekoa, discussed through the imagery of a defensive stockade; and the language of singing and cries of triumph. The study then explores the different “new year” markers traditionally recognized within the Hebrew calendar, including Nisan, Elul, Tishrei, and Shevat, before returning to Scripture in Ezekiel 40 and Numbers 29. Numbers 29:1 gives the foundation: the first day of the seventh month, a holy convocation, no ordinary work, and a day of trumpet blowing. We then examine yom and teruah more closely as words associated with a division of time, an alarm, signal, shout, battle cry, and war cry. Finally, the study enters Joshua 6 and the fall of Jericho. Priests blow ram’s horns. The people remain silent until the appointed moment. Then trumpet and human voice unite in a great shout. The walls fall.     Yom Teruah Explained: Feast of Trumpets, Shofar & Prophetic Meaning | Part 1 | Daily Bread

    What is Yom Teruah, and why does Scripture command a day of shouting, trumpet blasts, rest, and holy convocation? After completing our study of Torah, grace, and Galatians 2, Daily Bread now turns toward YAH’s appointed times, beginning with Yom Teruah—the Feast of Trumpets. In Part 1, The Mandated Reporter introduces the fall feast days and explains why these appointed times are presented as more than religious holidays. The lesson explores the spring feasts and their connection with Jesus’ redemptive work, the prophetic significance assigned to the fall feasts, moedim as appointed gatherings, and the importance of recognizing biblical times and seasons. Then we begin defining the language of Yom Teruah. What does yom mean? What is a teruah? What is Rosh Hashanah? What does a trumpet blast communicate? And does the “trumpet” have to be a physical shofar—or can the human voice sound an alarm? The study then follows the connection between praise and warfare into 2 Chronicles 20, where singers went before the army and YAH fought the battle. We also examine Hebrew terms including halal and gadol, and hear the difference between the teruah and the tekiah gedolah. This is not simply a lesson about blowing a horn.     What Does “Works of the Law” Mean? Galatians 2:15–21 Explained | Daily Bread

    What did Paul mean when he said no one is justified by “works of the law”—and does that mean obedience no longer matters? In this final portion of the Daily Bread study of Galatians chapter 2, The Mandated Reporter walks through Galatians 2:15–21, examining justification, works of the law, grace, repentance, righteousness, faith, and the redemptive work of Jesus. The previous episode ended with Paul publicly rebuking Peter for separating himself from Gentile believers under religious pressure. Now Paul explains the theology behind that confrontation. The central question becomes: Can keeping YAH’s law make us righteous enough to save ourselves? This lesson distinguishes good works from attempting to obtain righteousness through works of the law. Scripture speaks positively about good works. But Paul’s argument is that human effort cannot produce the righteousness necessary for salvation. We need Jesus. We need His blood. We need grace. This episode also examines the difference between faith and presumption. Presumption says: “YAH knows my heart, so I can knowingly continue doing whatever I want.” Faith says: “Father, I need Your help. I missed the mark. I repent. Give me mercy and grace to walk differently.” Hebrews 4:16 becomes an important practical picture: Believers can approach the throne of grace boldly to obtain mercy and find grace in time of need. The lesson then returns to Paul’s former life as a Pharisee and explores the difference between rigid religious performance and walking with YAH through faith, mercy, relationship, and the help of Holy Spirit. Finally, Galatians 2:20–21 brings the entire chapter together: “I have been crucified with Christ…” and: “If righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.” The point is not that YAH’s instruction is evil or useless. And the blood provides redemption.     Why Did Paul Rebuke Peter? Galatians 2, Acts 10 & “Under the Law” Explained | Daily Bread

    Why did the Apostle Paul publicly rebuke Peter—and what does that confrontation reveal about Gentiles, Torah, grace, covenant, and being “under the law”? In this continuation of the Daily Bread Galatians 2 study, The Mandated Reporter examines Galatians 2:11–14, where Paul confronts Peter for separating himself from Gentile believers when members of the circumcision group arrived. Peter already knew better. In Acts 10, YAH had given Peter a vision that challenged his understanding of people he had previously regarded as unclean. This episode revisits that vision and asks an important question: Was Acts 10 primarily about changing biblical dietary instructions—or was YAH preparing Peter to receive Gentiles whom he had previously considered unclean? From there, the study connects Peter’s vision with covenant, fellowship, the inclusion of the Gentiles, the law written upon the heart, Jesus’ blood, grace, and the law of sin and death.     Paul, Peter & Purpose: Knowing What YAH Called You to Do | Galatians 2 | Daily Bread

    Why was the Apostle Paul so difficult to sway from his assignment—and what can his calling teach us about understanding our own purpose? In Part 3 of this Daily Bread study of Galatians 2, The Mandated Reporter continues examining Paul’s apostleship, his ministry to the Gentiles, Peter’s ministry to the circumcised, and the importance of knowing what YAH has actually called you to do. But first, the study asks an important question: Who is Jesus? Beginning with John 1, this episode examines Jesus as the Word made flesh and connects His earthly ministry with the Word sent forth from the Father to accomplish His purpose. John 14:6 also becomes important as Jesus declares: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The lesson then connects the Father, House, Son, Seed, Word, and purpose before returning to Galatians 2:7–10. Paul knew his assignment. Peter knew his assignment. The apostles understood that different people could be sent to different groups while still serving the same Kingdom. That principle becomes intensely practical: Do you know your assignment? When we do not know what YAH has called us to do, other people’s opinions can send us running in circles. We can pursue ministries, opportunities, positions, and responsibilities simply because somebody else thinks we should. But when our assignment becomes clear, we become much harder to move away from the path YAH established for us. This episode explores: Galatians 2:7–10, John 1, John 14:6, Luke 8:11–18, Isaiah 55:11, Jesus as the Word made flesh, the Father and the Son, seed and purpose, Paul’s ministry to the Gentiles, Peter’s ministry to the circumcised, apostleship, calling, affirmation, spiritual direction, and knowing YAH’s will for your life. The lesson also includes a personal testimony about learning to stop looking first to other people for affirmation and instead seeking YAH concerning assignment and purpose. And all of this prepares us for the next major question in Paul’s writings: What did Paul actually mean when he said believers were “no longer under the law”?
