There are no leads on the hijacker and no new pieces of evidence … until a boy finds bundles of money buried in the sand. The money is verified as part of the ransom and it briefly reignites the investigation. But as the new millennium dawns with no forward progress on the case, the FBI enlists the help of “citizen sleuths” to help solve the mystery of D.B. Cooper.

Law enforcement agencies race to find the hijacker, but they face major obstacles. The possible search area is massive and the weather hampers the investigation on the ground. The media turns the story into nationwide news. And they know virtually nothing about the man who called himself “Dan Cooper” but who will be forever known as, “D.B. Cooper.” As their frustration mounts, they release a sketch of the hijacker that will become iconic in the history of American crime.

MotoPod Martin ,

Fabulously entertaining, easy listening, fascinating detail

Chris Wimmer and the team at Black Barrel Media have produced a truly enchanting series with five series so far covering a wide range of topics from America’s past. The topics cover a wide range of history in both period and area, from early settlers accusing each other of witchcraft to early 20th century baseball betting scandals with a healthy dose of criminal activity thrown in.
As a Brit, I have absorbed much of my supposed knowledge of the US’s history through movies and books so it’s wonderfully engaging to be able to hear the real stories behind the myths and legends.
Chris is a very congenial host, neither judging nor ranting but delivering the stories in a very palatable way, accompanied by a gentle humour and in a very coherent manner. When an episode needs to be delivered in order of topic rather than a strictly chronological one, Chris is able to do so without causing any confusion.
I very highly recommend this series and the accompanying series produced by the same team, Legends of the Old West. Five stars all the way.
