Rob Moore had a successful career in television until one day he ran out of ideas. After a stint as a gardener, a more enticing door was opened for him. He was offered a job in the shadowy world of corporate intelligence - he became a spy.
Tasked with working undercover to extract information from an environmental campaign group, Rob Moore says he eventually became sympathetic to the campaigners’ aims. He decided to turn on his employers and support the group he was meant to be infiltrating. Only it wasn’t that straightforward. He never told the campaigners who he really was and he never told his spymasters what he was really doing. Neither side knew the whole truth.
That was until 2016, when after years of being in control of these two disparate worlds he was unexpectedly outed. Now, the campaigners see him as a traitor who betrayed their trust. He sees himself as a misunderstood whistleblower.
From the team that brought you Sweet Bobby, and over three years in the making, Into The Dirt is a story about truth, spies and the stories we tell ourselves

Episode three - Poison into medicine

Episode three - Poison into medicine

Rob Moore says he can justify going undercover among anti-asbestos campaigners because he was following a Buddhist principle, turning poison into medicine. To this day he believes that if the people he infiltrated would really listen to his story they'd understand him differently. But does his story really stand up to scrutiny?

Ref ‘what an awful guy’ (below)

The person to whom you’re referring to – writer of “Unkind” - is most likely writing under a pseudonym …it’s probably Rob himself 😳

bigface.tv ,

A cruel bullying podcast that reveals nothing about anything important

There is an interesting and important story to be followed here, the killing of thousands of people by those who trade in asbestos, yet the journalist lazily decides, after finding himself at personal odds with the whiste blower (Moore), to not believe him, and seeing a more complicated investigation ahead, that would require way more resources and time than either he had or Tortoise were prepared to offer the reporter and so turned the whole endevour into a personal and pointless public take down of Mr Moore, an idealist trying his best to do something good. If this guy was a public figure there may have been some justification but he is not and it all amounts to a big media company publicly bullying one man. And to what end? We learn nothing about the corporate spying industry, we learn nothing about the continued mining of chryslotille and the campaigns people behind it or where the money goes This must have been personally devastating to Mr Moore, a Buddhist who seems to have entrusted these people to tell his story but who, over faced by the size of the story, took Moore’s work and used it for harm in a cheap hit job character assassination.
