A fantastic take on war and history, alike. Doing the narrative justice and giving all those wonderful and the better left forgotten moments some life. Had my History lessons been this stimulating, I might have learnt a thing or two.

This show started okay-ish, and went downhill very quickly. Basic questions showing little insight into the history or engagement with what the guests have written. Obviously very little preparation has gone into later episodes. The biggest problem is all the inane giggling though.

A podcast lead by three young historians at the beginning of their careers, broad range of military history topics covered, beyond the “traditional” areas of focus. A blend of informed subject specific questions and some amusing informal questions at the end of each session, gives you a different perspective. Once a month (or so) the pod is dedicated to a PhD student to discuss their research - which is a great approach for the student and for the listener to hear about new cutting edge research areas they may not have been exposed to otherwise. Worth listening to the pilot podcast to get some interesting/unusual background to the three hosts! Hosts growing in confidence and comfort as the pod goes on. Part of a growing group of young / early career academics making a real impact on social media demonstrating enormous passion for their subject and support to their peers. Enjoying the informal style, that is still focussed on the history.
