Berkshire Stags VI cricket club in conversation with Hassan Khan.

In this 5th, much anticipated episode of the Kharnage Podcast, Hassan Khan is joined on the line by 3 Members of the Berkshire Stags VI cricket team, as well as their much-loved lead Jeanette Stacey. Stags are one of if not the most appreciated, social, and friendliest VI cricket club around. And in this frank conversation with Hassan, extremely Proud Jeanette Stacey tells the listener about the club’s journey, sharing the challenges, barriers, but also the successes they have experienced over the last 10 years or so. Despite their challenges with sight loss and personal tragedies off the field, Paul, Stuart, and Chris speak glowingly not just of the club and everyone associated, but the relationships they managed to build both on and off the field. Jeanette goes on to admit to the listener that Covid19 actually United the club more than ever before and it is one of the factors in the stags winning the league this season. In a world of developing wars, political unrest and cost of living increasing by the day, this heartfelt episode is not to be missed, prepare to be enlightened, empowered and overawed by the personal stories shared. My deepest gratitude to everyone at Berkshire Stags for their time and energy. Congratulations to Captain Sam Hoskin, all volunteers, staff, supporters, and the squad for winning the league! The Palestinian Dream (Ameera Abuarqoub)

In this second episode of the Kharnage Podcast, Hassan visits Palestine to speak to yet another exceptional human being, with an extraordinary story. Ameera Abuarqoub was born in the beautiful city of Ramallah and although she was born with sight problems, sadly for her and her family this was just the beginning of the heartbreak, due to a medical error Ameera was devastatingly left totally blind. However, true Heros are often made in the hour of defeat and perhaps that very quote was uttered with Ameera in mind, as she went on to embrace her visual impairment with open arms. Ameera can now be seen wandering confidently in the narrow, cobbled alleys of Birzeit’s old town, relying on her white cane. She taps her loyal guide, right, left, right, discovering the surface of the ancient, preserved passages. She moves much in the same way that her inventive mind draws on its own images and her long skilful fingers scan elegantly over her braille university books. Success would have been far more difficult to achieve, had it not been for Ameera’s wonderful sidekick, her mother. This story is sure to warm the coldest of hearts. So please share, comment, and give us five stars. :) If you would like to get involved, then please leave a comment and we will get back to you. Keep it Kharnage!
