    06 September 2026 - The Curtains & Zombies Sermon (Matthew 27.50-56)

How did you react in that moment? Grow G1: Matthew 27:51-53 | What stands out to you most among the physical reactions in creation at the moment of Jesus' death, such as the tearing of the temple curtain, the splitting of rocks, or the opening of tombs? G2: Matthew 27:51| The torn temple curtain symbolizes God breaking down the barrier between Himself and humanity. How does knowing you have direct access to God change the way you approach Him in daily prayer and worship? G3: Nahum 1:5-6, Psalm 78:15-16 | Dan notes that splitting rocks represents both God's judgment against evil powers and His miraculous provision of life-giving water. How do you see both of these truths displayed at the cross? G4: Ezekiel 37:11-14 | In what ways does the vision of dry bones receiving life reflect the resurrection power demonstrated when Jesus died and the tombs opened? G5: Matthew 27:54 | Jesus was not the military or political Messiah many people expected. In what areas of your life are you tempted to make Jesus fit your own expectations rather than accepting Him as He is? G6: Matthew 27:54 | When the Roman centurion witnessed the earthquake and all that happened, he was terrified and recognized Jesus as the Son of God. How should awe and reverent fear shape our trust in Christ today? Show S1: Matthew 27:52-53, Ezekiel 37:14 | Dan notes that as Christians, we are "dead people who are now living." What is one practical step you can take this week to live out that new life and point someone else to Jesus?
