Making Sense with Sam Harris
Join neuroscientist, philosopher, and five-time New York Times best-selling author Sam Harris as he explores important and controversial questions about the mind, society, current events, moral philosophy, religion, and rationality—with an overarching focus on how a growing understanding of ourselves and the world is changing our sense of how we should live. Sam is also the creator of the Waking Up app. Combining Sam’s decades of mindfulness practice, profound wisdom from varied philosophical and contemplative traditions, and a commitment to a secular, scientific worldview, Waking Up is a resource for anyone interested in living a more examined, fulfilling life—and a new operating system for the mind. Waking Up offers free subscriptions to anyone who can’t afford one, and donates a minimum of 10% of profits to the most effective charities around the world. To learn more, please go to WakingUp.com. Sam Harris received a degree in philosophy from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA.

Fascinating and Enjoyable
9 Sept
Well researched, well thought out, well presented, well chosen guests and never predictable – and the most flexible subscription terms in existence – if in any doubt just email and a friendly member of his team of real humans will be more than happy to assist. What else is there to say? Though I don’t agree with everything he says, Sam’s arguments are always thought provoking and anything but hollow. He never builds without foundations, he is transparent throughout and provides all necessary references. Highly recommended.
Good, but..

There’s some great content in here but Harris can be frustrating also. His obsession with shouting about Islamists screams of someone who literally has zero experience of living in a multicultural community. Of course islamists and jihadists are bad, 99% of Muslims agree, that dosnt make wearing a vale oppressive for every Muslim woman. He argues about the need for nuanced debate but then leans into lazy stereotypes regarding things such as the trans debate, (he fires into the female boxer at the Olympics that won a gold for not being a woman for example, but she was not a biological male rather had a chromosome condition). If you can see past it, there’s some good analysis.

Lost touch with reality and started preaching from an ivory tower. Disappointing, so I will be unsubscribing
The ‘Final Thoughts on Election’ episode
11 Nov
Wow. The Mark Cuban episode is ageing terribly… eek. The only line missing from this pre election episode was ‘I’m Kamala Harris and I endorse this message’. It had everything from ‘grandma will be deported’ to ‘no Christmas presents next year’. These leftists will never understand Trump voters, they love Trump because they despise you. Exactly because you put junk like this episode out as ‘making sense’. Shame the US political takes are so bad, otherwise good podcast.
