A weekly podcast from the makers of McKellar golf journal. Hosted by Lawrence Donegan.
McKellar Golf Podcast #86 PGA TOUR/PIF and "The events of June 6th".
After a summer hiatus, your favorite smarty-pants golf Podcast is back. We catch up on Shackelford and Donegan's summer travels, discuss the Ryder Cup and drop a few hints about the hints currently circulating that suggests the PGA Tour, in the parlance of the 1950s American domestic drama, might be "fooling around" with someone else while the PIF is pre-occupied with avoiding scrutiny from the US Senate.
McKellar Golf Podcast #85 The PGA Tour and the Ball Rollback. An Emergency Show!
In a special show the legendary Mike Clayton joins Shackelford and Donegan to discuss the PGA Tour's decision to ignore years of negotiations with, an accommodations by, the USGA and R&A, over a proposal to roll back the ball "elite competition golf". It's an elevated chat, even though we say so ourselves.
McKellar Golf Podcast #84 Geoff Shackelford and Lawrence Donegandiscuss Brian Harman's win at the 2023 Open Championship.
A feisty episode this week, with Geoff on his way to the bookies to collect on the stunning Sepp Straka EW bet and Lawrence gets Rory's putting "coach: Bad Faxton off his chest (not literally, of course). Good fun.
McKellar Golf Podcast #83 2023 Open Championship Preview
With Geoff Shackelford stymied by technical issues, Lawrence Donegan is joined by the legendary Mike Clayton to take a look ahead to this week's Open at Royal Liverpool. And a for a very special "Royal Liverpool" Friend of the Pod segment, we are joined by golf coach Alex Murray, whose insight on Tiger Woods' preparations for the 2006 Open could change the way golf historians will look back on Tiger's famously "strategic"approach when he won at Hoylake that year. A must listen.
McKellar Golf Podcast #82 Geoff Shackelford and Lawrence Donegan on the PGA Tour Senate Hearing
This week Geoff Shackelford and Lawrence Donegan got together immediately after the Senate Committee hearing into the PGA Tour/Saudi "arrangement" to discuss what was said and, more stunningly, what was revealed in the documents released by the committe. We also talked about the 2023 US Women's Open at Pebble.
McKellar Golf Podcast #81 Geoff Shackelford and Lawrence Donegan review the 2023 US Open Championship
A very special show this week as Lawrence Donegan talks to Geoff Shackelford about his 2023 US Open week at Los Angeles Country Club, a major championship played on a George Thomas course that Geoff helped restore to its former glory. Some great insights and anecdotes from Shack. A must listen.
Just needs a tweak for 5 stars
The guys get excellent guests which makes for potentially fascinating shows. However as other reviews point out it’s a bit Heath Robinson in terms of research / preparation, at least where LD is concerned, which is any easy fix. More key for the listener is abbreviating the rambling questioning style of LD which often finishes with him answering himself. He has a tendency to cut across guests mid flow too, which is a shame as most seem happy to speak freely when able (see Padraig, Chubby C as examples). JH has a depth of knowledge and perhaps could be more of a lead on the questioning? In essence more space for guests to talk to topics would be great.
Love you guys
Great PC and 99% of content just so on the mark and great to listen to. Would be good though if the LIV content on any cast could be a little more balanced as always just seems to has a negative slant and feel…
Great Golf Podcast
I have been listening to McKellar for a few years and enjoy every episode. Lawrence is a great host, witty but happy to ask the tough questions about where the game is going. Geoff Shackleford is a great addition to the show. My go to Podcast for golf. Keep up the good work chaps.
