Why do we find SIMPLE golf so difficult? – Jon Sherman and Adam Young #384

On today's show we have a unique combination of two of the game's foremost thinkers and coaches Jon Sherman and Adam Young. They host the fabulous podcast 'The Sweet Spot' which I have been fortunate to be a guest on a few times. Adam Young is the author of the 'Practice Manual' and Jon Sherman is the author of 'Four Foundations of Golf' We had a fabulous conversation about how to REALLY make a difference to your game We discussed the Big Three of Impact The non negotiables Face Orientation Strike Location Ground Contact The difference between focusing on Micro and Macro in coaching How the genius lies with the student not the coach Why it is easier to sell a 'swing system' than giving the power to the student Know what you are signing up for if you are working on MACRO changes Getting to the 'scene of the crime' with impact Understanding the power of INTENTION Can you do the process as a student What is ACTUALLY happening at impact Keeping track of your impact patterns Being open to what you HAVE today as opposed to what you WISH you had Understanding how you need to change your questions to change your game. A ground breaking conversation with two wonderful coaches Are YOU going to be brave enough to keep it simple? A journey back to health and fitness – Josh Leyes Par4Success #381

Today on the show we have a personal story of my own attempt to get back to health and fitness. After pretty much living in a gym for the past 30 or so years I had major surgery and then complications which stopped me training or playing for over 3 years With the help of Josh Leyes at Par4Success I have managed slowly to coax my body back into training. Even to be back in the gym at all feels like a major victory I couldn't have done any of it without the help of the guys at Par4Success They are without doubt the best I have come across in terms of fitness and conditioning in the past 30 years It was great to get Josh on the show We discussed: The importance of taking the 4 Rotary Tests Why data gives you an inspiring goal to aim at Why functional rotation is so important How speed training alone can be dangerous for your body Are you an injury waiting to happen? The joy of being able to move better The role of the mind in effective training A really great session with a top trainer who has helped me so much I cannot overemphasise how important it is to take the ROTATIONAL TEST www.par4success.com/mindcaddie Take action on what Josh suggests in todays show Realise just how precious your body is Don't waste the opportunity www.par4success.com/mindcaddie To join us on the Mind Caddie journey go to www.mindcaddie.golf Shop with code : MINDFACTOR10 at checkout for 10% OFF your next order at www.fenixxcell.com @fenixxcell

Is your THINKING destroying your GAME? – Dr Chris Niebauer #380

The problem with thinking so much and more importantly BELIEVING those thoughts Today on the Mind Caddie we have a really special guest in the shape of Dr Chris Niebauer author of the incredible books 'No Self No Problem' and 'The No Self No Problem Workbook' Chris's work has been a really big influence on my thinking over recent times. He paints a wonderful picture of what Golf and Life could be if we began to have a different relationship to our thinking mind. If we could understand what our thinking mind is actually up to. We wouldn't take it so seriously. We wouldn't try to control our experience as much We discuss Left Brain – Right Brain theories and how important it is to understand the differences and how it can potentially help your life The importance of the book 'The Master and his Emissary' The 'voice in the head' and why we don't have to take it so seriously The constant creation of stories created by the Left Brain Ways to GROUND yourself in the present Why when the mind puts effort in one direction there is a pushback in another direction We cannot use thinking to stop us thinking !! Could thought itself be the problem? Some really fascinating insights about our mind and how it actually works. I cannot recommend Chris and his work highly enough To find out more about Chris Niebauer go to https://chrisniebauerphd.com/ To join us on the Mind Caddie journey go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ Shop with code : MINDFACTOR10 at checkout for 10% OFF your next order at www.fenixxcell.com @fenixxcell

Today on the Mind Caddie we are joined by former Manchester United star Lee Sharpe to talk about his journey from a top Premiership Footballer to potential player on the European Seniors Golf Tour We had a fascinating conversation about his development of skills as a footballer. Kicking a ball against a wall over and over again to gain skill and control over the football. Going into an environment of excellence with greats of football like Bryan Robson and Eric Cantona The way training was structured by Sir Alex Ferguson and Archie Knox Dealing with 'imposter syndrome' and how to handle the nervousness of running out into the cauldron of football called 'Old Trafford' The influence of Eric Cantona and what individuals can do to a team environment How golf came into Lee's life and ultimately became a support after his football career ended. The first round at Heaton Park in Manchester starting with 3 balls and losing 2 on the first!! Falling in love with the game of golf The role of golf psychology in his early development Going on a quest to see what is possible with his golf and the dream of the Seniors Tour. The benefits of golf from a mental health perspective. Giving purpose to each day. Being willing to explore a different way to play and learn the game.
