    With over 25 years experience in the field, Rory talks about why people die by suicide and what we can do to prevent it, including how to speak to someone vulnerable. We dispel common myths surrounding suicide and discuss the importance of research in this area. 
    Rory supervises the Mindstep Fellowship as Director of the Suicidal Behaviour Research Laboratory at the University of Glasgow, and is the acting President of the International Association for Suicide Prevention.

    We talk to Martin about his own journey with mental illness, which began with trauma as a Hillsborough Disaster survivor and came to a head after family illness and loss, ultimately leading him to consider suicide. Martin now shares his story with others to encourage them to reach out for support. 
     
    We also speak to Martin about his work as a Mental Health Lead, how we can provide better mental health support in the workplace, and how we have the opportunity 'build back better' following the pandemic.

    In Episode 1, Tracey Davies speaks openly about the loss of her 22-year old son, Max, following his depression. In this honest and personal conversation with daughter, Georgia, they provide an insight into their own experience in the hope that it will be useful to others.
    The discussion starts with Max's story and covers mental health in young men, the impact of a death by suicide and trying to rebuild after such a tragic loss. They also discuss the reasons why the family chose to establish the Mindstep Foundation in Max's memory.
