I really love this podcast but there are just too few of them. I've started listening to them again in order I enjoyed them so much. As much as I enjoyed other podcasts related to Harry Potter I thought they didn't really teach me anything or I felt the hosts were often failing to fully understand the books. Listening to Mugglenet Academia is almost as good as the experience of reading the stories for the first time as you are delving deeper into the books. My only complaint is that the guys must be too busy to make more - would love to hear an episode dealing with father figures in the stories or family structures. I've often wondered why there are so many only children at Hogwarts.

I love this podcast. I look forward to each new episode along with Alohomora and Mugglecast - but this is something completely different. Yes, I love reading Harry Potter and discussing the magic world, but this podcast discusses aspects of the books that I've never even thought about. It has reawoken my passion for studying literature, which I have not done for 5 years now. It has also lead me to try different genres of novels I have never took an interest in before, as they all tie in with the style of the books I know and love. John is my favourite on the podcast, but Keith and the guests are always great - who knew so many proper grown ups with proper jobs shared my passion for Potter! Keep it up guys, and thanks for bringing it to us! Keeps my brain from melting in work :)

Welcome to the John Granger Show! I was urged to start listening to this podcast by a fellow Potterhead, but I've now abandoned it, mainly because of the so-called (and, presumably self-styled)"Hogwarts Professor". The way he hijacks every episode has become so irritating that I've just given up on it. None of the other contributors can barely get a word in once he gets going, apart from one memorable episode when English writer, Dolores Gordon-Smith wiped the floor with him and simply talking over him. I also feel that the guest students get a raw deal from him, they are on the whole, pretty much ignored and often their contributions are simply steamrollered over, especially if they differ in their opinions from Mr Granger. His presenting style - sounding like a de-testicled mouse according to one listener early on in the series - leaves a lot to be desired. He is obviously very knowledgable on the whole HP series, but his shouty, over excited delivery just turned me off. I had high hopes for this podcast, looking forward to serious discussins, but as good as the content has been, I'm afraid that I just can't get past Mr Granger's total domination of the entire broadcasts.

A brilliant academic podcast! I love the fact that each Lesson a Professor/ Judge/ Writer, or some other professional person takes the place of 'Professor'. The theories explored and lessons learned in every episode of this podcast are very interesting and I feel that I have already learned so much. Whether you believe what the lessons try to teach you or not, the ideas brought forward from the inner depths of the Harry Potter series, from between every letter of every word, are fascinating and enjoyable. For some years now I have been trying to write my own fiction stories and the Lesson on Folktale Structure was absolutely brilliant and has led me to look further into it and see how it could apply to my own writing. I can't wait for further episodes.
