Murder Sheet

Started listening a year or two ago, after whenever I first heard them on the Prosecutors Pod - or maybe Prosecutors Legal Briefs? Listened here and there initially then, as Delphi occupied more and more space in true crime, I did a quick search for podcasts that were detailed (& would give me some sense of why it had become so controversial) and discovered the back catalogue of Delphi coverage going back years from my search, a catalogue that was still being contemporaneously updated at that time. I started listening through and found myself impressed to see evidence of solid, ethical journalism (something that’s can be frustratingly lacking in the true crime space) and reasonable analysis & critique. I didn’t necessarily always agree but that’s not a reason not to listen! Once caught up I was able to follow the saga of RA’s defence (& defence team) throughout the pre-trial process and thence through the trial. It was stellar podcasting. I deeply appreciated Kevin & Àine’s efforts (despite years returning to the subject, sheer volume of attention Delphi received, sheer amount of their own time it took and some of the bruising that others in the space delivered them) to never lose sight of Abby & Libby, never forget what they went through, what their loved ones were going through and what the communities effected suffered both in the initial aftermath and over the years since. I also appreciated the explanation of various legal process that were new to me (listening in UK). I’d also highly commend the ‘Exit Interviews’ series they’ve been doing with people in and around the Delphi case who were previously unable to speak publicly about the case. It’s a set of truly interesting interviews that gave the interviewee room to speak & reflect. In amongst all the Delphi I became a regular listener to their other content. I really enjoy Cheat Sheet in particular but also the episodes which are more of a detailed look at a case. Also grateful for the pre-trial reporting they’re now giving the Idaho student murders - again giving a better idea of where things are so that when it is widely reported it doesn’t feel like it’s suddenly popped up out of nowhere, as well as again carefully demystifying the legal systems and quirks. To be honest my only criticism is occasional repetitiveness, though this seems common across true crime coverage or documentaries, so this might just be a ‘me,’ thing) and sometimes rambling towards the end of a topic or point, rather than tightly sticking to a more tight report-analysis-conclusion-next steps structure, then moving onto the next item or point, which I would prefer. But they’ve improved over time in this regard and I’m sure will continue to get better as their own experience and expertise build. Genuinely recommend this podcast.

Ignore the negative review bombing. This is hands down one of the best researched and most trustworthy true crime podcasts out there. They don’t pander to popular opinion or conspiracy theories, they tell the truth and obviously that riles quite a few people up. But I could not recommend this podcast more highly for people who like their True Crime content to be honest.

Hosts are honest, respectful and act with integrity. Love listening and fully trust their reporting and analysis. They can really make me laugh as well which is always a plus

Some good reporting but the presenters chat too much about nothing, the ads are torturously contrived and the intro music awful.
