This podcast is brilliant, informative, accessible.I highly recommend it if you are interested in finding out ‘what happened’ and how historians ‘know’ what happened.

I am not a scholar and have no knowledge about this subject other than as a lay person who really really wants to know ‘what happened’. But the presenters seem to make the information very accessible even for those who know very little as well as those who are ‘experts’ at this subject. Either as students, academics, believers, critics or theologians.

The podcast gives access to key academic texts and academic on second temple history, early Christian, the Jesus sect, Jewish followers of Jesus, pagans and Rome and people living in the period.

It is good for those who don’t have time to access those texts, those who can’t access the texts (who may not have university library access to these texts) or have read and accessed them but who want to think and hear them being discussed.

It gives valuable insight into how historians seek to give a best estimate of ‘what happened’. I enjoy both the texts discussed and the systematic breakdown of methodology for the conclusions reached.

This podcast is of interest to Christians, atheists, Jews, academics and laypeople who are invested in the period and the topic.

In short, what ever your level of knowledge and your ideological slant, this podcast for you if you are interested in the topic.
