Fortnightly shot of big thinking

One of my favourite podcasts and perfect content for my commute to work. It keeps on getting better too; longer episodes that do more justice to the fundamental points being discussed. Keep them coming

They disappoint

I listened to the discussion about Broadcasting with Dorothy Byrne on the day it was found Channel 4 propagated a false and damaging accusation against Boris Johnson falsely reporting him
as referring to ‘People of Colour’. The opening discussion between Taylor and Leslie was truly interesting and promising. However, when their guest came onto the podcast they became incredibly deferential, allowing her to blame politicians repeatedly for the problems they have with the modern media - not the Gotcha tactics of many interviewers, how misteps are commonly blown up on social media, how media scrutiny by broadcasters is far more aggressive and widespread than in the past. It was really quite poor, despite a promising introduction. Dorothy Byrne, despite the questionable credibility of her news programming, was remarkably arrogant about how her the journalistic profession is perceived.
